Chicago White Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays – 3:07 PM ET
We’ll begin our day by looking at the Chicago White Sox vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. With a record of 23-25, the White Sox have already lost two straight games to the Blue Jays. Yesterday, the White Sox lost the game 7-3 after a poor performance on the mound. They’ll hope for a better outing today when the 0-1 Johnny Cueto takes the mound.
For the Toronto Blue Jays, Alek Manoah will get the nod as the starter. This season, Manoah is 5-1 as a starter with an ERA of 1.77. The pitching advantage definitely goes to the White Sox in this one. The Blue Jays are the best bet with Manoah on the mound and their batters doing much better recently. They come into this game at -190, so we’ll take them.
Washington Nationals vs. Cincinnati Reds – 6:40 PM ET
Jumping forward a little later into the night, we’ll see the Nationals play the Reds. Washington has lost four of their last five games, losing three in a row. They have a better matchup in the Reds tonight, but that still doesn’t give us much hope. Joan Adon, the 1-8 starting pitcher tonight, has an ERA of 6.08.
The Cincinnati Reds might not be a great team, but they’ve done better this week. Over their last five games, the Reds have won three of them. On the mound tonight is Graham Ashcraft, with a 1-0 record this season. Ashcraft’s ERA is also much better than Adon at 1.69 throughout 10.2 innings. We’ll take the Reds -135 at home to win this one.
Seattle Mariners vs. Baltimore Orioles – 7:05 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners took a 9-2 loss yesterday after beating the Orioles 10-0 the day before. This massive step back was slightly surprising as they seemed to be the better team. They’ll try to get back on track tonight but will have the 2-6 Chris Flexen on the mound. Flexen has an ERA of 4.47 over the course of 50.1 innings pitched.
The Baltimore Orioles will send out Jordan Lyles, who has a much better record of 3-4. The Mariners have a slight edge over the Orioles in terms of batting average. As a team, Seattle has a batting average of .239 while the Orioles have a .232 batting average. These two teams are pretty evenly matched, but we’ll take the Mariners -115.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs – 8:05 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals are 29-21 this season and have won their last three games. Being able to beat the Padres 3-0 in a series is no easy feat, and they did it handily. They’ll face the 21-29 Chicago Cubs, who are also coming off a big win tonight. The Cardinals will start Matthew Liberatore, who has a 1-0 record as a starter this season.
The Chicago Cubs are sending out one of their best pitchers tonight, Keegan Thompson. Thompson has an impeccable record of 5-0 with a 1.58 ERA. The advantage on the mound goes to the Cubs. The question is, canCan Thompson stop the Cardinals’ group of batters that have a batting average of .252? We think he can, so we’ll take the Cubs -110.
Atlanta Braves vs. Colorado Rockies – 8:40 PM ET
Our last game of the night is between the Braves and the Colorado Rockies. The Braves have a record of 24-27 this season after losing three of their last five games. Their most recent game was a 6-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Today, they’ll face another team from the NL East, the 23-27 Colorado Rockies.
The Rockies have fallen from one of the top spots in the NL East. The good news is they’re coming off of a win over the Miami Marlins. Hopefully, they’ll have a bit of momentum in this game for their sake. The Rockies batters are among the best in MLB, with a batting average of .265. Because of this, we’ll take the Rockies to win at home tonight +130.
