It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Sunday’s schedule.
Washington Nationals vs. Cincinnati Reds – 1:40 PM ET
The first game we’ll take a look at today is the Washington Nationals at the Cincinnati Reds. The Nationals, with a record of 20-35 have beaten the Reds twice in the series. With the series currently at 2-1 in favor of Washington, the Nationals will look for a third win. On the mound tonight is Patrick Corbin, who has an awful 1-8 record as a starter.
The Cincinnati Reds will send out the 2-2 Luis Castillo to the mound today. Castillo not only has a better record than Corbin but a better ERA at 3.38. Corbin’s ERA of 6.96, puts the Nationals at a disadvantage tonight against the Reds. Because of this, we think the Reds will pull off a Game 4 win tonight -175.
San Diego Padres vs. Milwaukee Brewers – 2:10 PM ET
Game 3 of the series between the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers is set for today. The Padres are already up 2-0 in the series after a 4-0 win yesterday. San Diego will send out Mike Clevinger, who has a 1-0 record as a starter with an ERA of 3.21. They have a slight edge over the Brewers in terms of batting average with a .233 as well.
The Brewers have had trouble in this series putting runs across the plate. The Brewers have yet to score a single run through the first two games of the series. This is uncharacteristic for the Brewers who have 243 runs this season. They have a team batting average of .230 as well, which isn’t bad. Giving them a little help on the mound is the 5-1 Eric Lauer.
Atlanta Braves vs. Colorado Rockies – 3:10 PM ET
Our next game of the day will see the 27-27 Atlanta Braves face off against the Colorado Rockies. The Braves have won four games in a row, three of which were against the Rockies. Getting the nod as the starter today is Charlie Morton, who has a 3-3 record as a starter. Morton has an ERA of 5.47, however, so that’s slightly concerning.
Speaking of concerns, the Colorado Rockies have lost four out of their last five games. They’ve fallen to a record of 23-30 after being one of the best teams in the NL West. Now, they find themselves in a bind against the Atlanta Braves. Having already lost three games in a row, they’ll need to find a way to win one. However, we see the Braves coming out on top -150.
Boston Red Sox vs. Oakland Athletics – 4:07 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox have been very dominant in their series against the Athletics. They’ve won both of the first two games by a margin of five runs or more. With a batting average of .260, compared to the Athletics .210, it’s not surprising they’ve won. Rich Hill is the starting pitcher for the Red Sox with a record of 1-3 as a starter and an ERA of 4.85.
The Athletics have fallen to a 20-35 record this season and are 7-22 at home. With such an awful start to the year, it’ll take a lot for them to climb up in the standings. Their most recent game was an 8-0 loss to the Red Sox. Unfortunately, they’ll have Frankie Montas on the mound who has a 2-5 record. We’ll go with the road team, the Boston Red Sox +100.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs – 7:00 PM ET
Our final game of the day is between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs. This has been a back and forth series, with each team winning two games. Starting the game is Adam Wainwright, who has a record of 5-4 with an ERA of 2.75. Wainwright’s ERA should help the Cardinals out a lot in this game.
For the Chicago Cubs, the 1-5 LHP Justin Steele will get the nod today. Steele has an ERA of 5.40 over 40 innings pitched. The Cubs also falls shortly behind the Cardinals in terms of team batting average. The Cubs have a .244 and the Cardinals have a .254. Considering the Cardinals have the advantage in pitching and batting, we’ll take St. Louis -140.
