MLB Best Bets for October 4, 2022

It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Tuesday’s schedule.

Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets – 4:10 PM ETnationals vs mets baseball betting

The Washington Nationals have lost three of their last five games this season. With the 0-4 Cory Abbott on the mound tonight, it’s likely to become four of their last five. Abbott has an ERA of 5.11 and it doesn’t help that he’s facing a strong group of Mets batters. As a team, the Nationals have a batting average of .248 compared to the Mets’ .258.

Getting the start for the New York Mets is Carlos Carrasco, who has a 15-7 record. His ERA of 3.95 gives the Mets a significant advantage on the mound tonight. With the advantage on the mound and at the plate, we’ll take the Mets -278 over the Nationals.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Pittsburgh Pirates – 6:35 PM ETcardinals vs pirates baseball betting

There are only two games left in the series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates. On the mound for the Cardinals tonight is the 8-7 Dakota Hudson, who has an ERA of 4.07. Through 137 innings, Hudson has thrown just 77 strikeouts while allowing 132 hits. The real key for the Cardinals here is their batting, of which they have a .252 average.

The Pittsburgh Pirates come into this game with a 61-99 record. They’ve won their last two games against the Cardinals and are pushing for a third. Taking the mound tonight is JT Brubaker, who is 3-12 this season. Although his record is bad, he has an ERA of 4.58 over the course of 141.1 innings. We’ll actually go with Brubaker and the Pirates tonight.

Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins – 6:40 PM ETbraves vs marlins baseball betting

The Atlanta Braves have a 100-60 record and lead the NL East. They’ll continue their road series against the Miami Marlins after a 4-0 loss last night. Jake Odorizzi, who has a 5-6 record with an ERA of 4.53 will get the start tonight.

The Miami Marlins are hoping to improve upon their 68-92 record. Although they won’t be making the postseason, each win can help them in the offseason. Braxton Garrett, who is 3-6 with an ERA of 3.56 will take the mound for the Marlins. They have a team batting average of .230 but that doesn’t quite compare to the Braves.

Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds – 6:40 PM ETcubs vs reds baseball betting

There are two games left in this series as well and the Cubs have dominated the entire time. Going 3-1 so far, the Chicago Cubs suffered their first loss last night. Today, the 2-2 Javier Assad will get the start for Chicago. Assad has an ERA of 3.62 and has allowed only four home runs in 32.1 innings.

The Cincinnati Reds were able to secure a 3-1 victory last night. The 4-4 Luis Cessa will get the start on the mound for the Reds tonight. Over the course of 75.2 innings, Cessa boasts a 4.76 ERA, which doesn’t give us much confidence. The Cubs also have a slightly better batting average so we’ll take them -110 tonight.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox – 7:10 PM ETrays vs redsox baseball betting

The final game we’re going to look over is an AL East showdown. The Boston Red Sox earned the first win of this series, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3. The Rays are now calling in their ace, Jeffrey Springs, to take the mound today. Springs has a record of 9-4 with a 2.45 ERA over the course of 132.1 innings. The Rays also have a team batting average of .240 this season.

Boston wins the batting battle with an average of .257 this season. Nathan Eovaldi (5-3) will get the start on the mound for them tonight. Eovaldi has an ERA of 4.05 this season which isn’t bad but not as good as Springs’. Because of this, we’ll take the Rays on the road at -125.
