MLB Best Bets for September 22, 2022

It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Thursday’s schedule.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Diego Padres – 4:10 PM ETcardinals vs padres baseball betting

Our first game of the day features two incredible teams. The St. Louis Cardinals have lost three games in a row, two of which to the San Diego Padres. This is the final game of the series and their last chance to get a win. On the mound tonight is the 0-1 Jack Flaherty, who has an ERA of 5.09 this season.

The Padres have been able to easily overwhelm the Cardinals this season. With an overall record of 83-66, the Padres are looking to tally another win tonight. They have the advantage in terms of pitching with the 10-7 Joe Musgrove on the mound. After winning the last two, we’re comfortable taking them again -145.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds – 6:40 PM ETbrewers vs reds baseball betting

The Milwaukee Brewers are 37-40 on the road this season and are 2-3 in their last five games. They were able to get a win over the New York Mets last night, so keep that in mind. On the mound for the Brewers today is the 11-4 Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff has an ERA of 3.26 and should do well against the Cincinnati Reds batters.

The batters for the Reds have an overall batting average of .239, not very impressive. It also doesn’t help that they’re starting the 4-12 Hunter Greene, who has a 4.97 ERA. With Greene on the mound, the Brewers are the much better pick tonight even though they’re on the road.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays – 6:40 PM ETblue jays vs rays baseball betting

The Toronto Blue Jays have an 84-65 record and are second in the AL East. Tonight, they face the team following closely behind them at 82-67. This four-game series could change who the second-place team in the AL East will be. The Blue Jays are starting Jose Berrios, who is 11-5 with an ERA of 4.99.

The Tampa Bay Rays are sending out JT Chargois, who is 2-0 with a 2.76 ERA. The Rays have lost their last three games, all of which were to the Houston Astros. The Blue Jays have a much better batting average than the Rays, coming in at .262. We’ll go with the Blue Jays to win the first game of this series.

Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies – 7:15 PM ETbraves vs phillies baseball betting

This game is likely to be one of the most entertaining to watch. The Atlanta Braves (93-56) will face the Philadelphia Phillies (81-67) in an NL East showdown. The Braves are sending out the 13-6 Max Fried, who has an ERA of 2.52. At the plate, the Atlanta Braves have a .253 average, slightly worse than the Phillies.

Ranger Suarez will get the start on the mound for Philadelphia tonight. He has an ERA of 3.53 over the course of 140.1 innings. With a team batting average of .255, the Phillies are well equipped to win this game. However, Philadelphia has gone 1-4 in their last five games, so we’ll take the Braves on the rad -145.

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees – 7:15 PM ETred sox vs yankees baseball betting

Another AL East game set to take place tonight is between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. The Red Sox, with a record of 72-76, are coming off of a 5-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds yesterday. They should do much better today, however, with the 11-1 Michael Wacha on the mound. Wacha has an ERA of 2.61 this season and has thrown 92 strikeouts this year.

The Yankees will send out Jameson Taillon, who boasts a 13-5 record. They also have won their last three games and Aaron Judge has hit 60 home runs. The Yankees are heating back up just in time for the postseason. Because of this, we’ll take them at home -170 over the Red Sox.
