mlb rundown baseball betting

MLB Rundown for April 28, 2022

It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look at the top five games on Thursday’s schedule.

San Diego Padres vs. Cincinnati Reds – 12:35 PM ETpadres vs reds baseball betting

One of the first games of the day is the San Diego Padres versus the Cincinnati Reds. The Padres, 12-7, have a 6-3 record on the road and are third in the NL West. They’ve battled through their long list of injuries and have already beat the Reds twice. However, getting the start on the mound today is the 0-2 Nick Martinez, giving the Reds an opening.

The Reds, one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball, have lost four of their last five games. Injuries also seem to be a problem for Cincinnati, along with below-average batting. Tyler Mahle, who is 1-2 this season, will get the start for Cincinnati tonight. He’ll need to find a way to stop a team with the eighth-most runs in MLB.

Colorado Rockies vs. Philadelphia Phillies – 1:05 PM ETrockies vs phillies baseball betting

Shortly after the Padres and Reds game begins, this one will kick off. The Rockies are fourth in the NL West with a 10-8 record. The Phillies, although 9-10, come into this game as -200 favorites. Austin Gomber will get the start for the Rockies, Gomber has an ERA of 4.20 and a record of 1-1.

The 0-3 Zach Wheeler will get the start for the Phillies tonight. With an ERA of 8.53, we’re surprised that the Phillies are actually favored to win this game. We’d say it must be because of batters, but the Rockies are better overall in that category. Because of that, we’ll take the Rockies +175 in this game.

Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays – 3:07 PM ETred sox vs blue jays baseball betting

At the moment, the Blue Jays lead this series two games to one. The most recent game, however, was a 7-1 win in favor of the Boston Red Sox. Boston has a record of 8-11 this season and is 5-7 on the road. To beat the Blue Jays, they’ll need great pitching tonight, which is why they’re starting Garret Whitlock.

Although Whitlock is 1-0 this season with an impressive ERA of 0.66, he faces tough competition. On the opposite side is Alex Manoah, the 3-0 starting pitcher of the Toronto Blue Jays. This is going to be an exciting game to watch, especially since each team has great batters.

Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:20 PM ETcubs vs braves baseball betting

Jumping forward to our evening games, the Chicago Cubs will face the Atlanta Braves. The Cubs, 8-10 this year, will start the 1-1 Drew Smyly. Smyly will try his best to slow down the Braves batters, which the Cubs were able to do yesterday. Chicago pulled off a 6-3 win over Atlanta yesterday, mostly due to their impressive batting.

The Braves will have to find a way to stop the team that ranks first in team batting average. Not only that, the Cubs rank first in on-base percentage as well at .348. The 2-0 Kyle Wright has been tasked with the start of this game. Wright has pitched 17 innings and thrown 26 strikeouts, if anyone can stop the Cubs it’s him.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 7:45 PM ETdiamondbacks vs cardinals baseball betting

The final game for our roundup is the Arizona Diamondbacks against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Diamondbacks will start Humberto Castellanos, who is 1-0 this season. If the Diamondbacks’ batting was just slightly better, they’d have more of a chance to win this game. However, with a team batting average of .178, things aren’t looking good for Arizona.

They’re facing a team that just beat the New York Mets 10-5. The St. Louis Cardinals have a lot of talent but are starting the 1-1 Dakota Hudson tonight. Hudson has had trouble against batters in the past, but still has an ERA of 3.95. Look for the Cardinals to get started fast today and win the game.
