NFL Wild Card Week Recap

Monday night capped off the final game of Wild Card Weekend, which featured four games decided by one score and a couple of blowouts. The playoffs are now down to eight teams, with next weekend’s winner advancing to the conference championships.

Bills Survive To Top Dolphins

The Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen overcame three turnovers to beat the seventh-seed Miami Dolphins 34-31. After getting out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead, Buffalo led 20-17 at halftime.

However, Josh Allen fumbled just over a minute into the third quarter, which was picked up and returned five yards for a touchdown by Zach Sieler, putting the Dolphins up 24-20. 

Allen responded by throwing two touchdown passes in the quarter to put the Bills up 34-24. However, they failed to score the rest of the way as the Bills’ defense stepped up in the fourth quarter, and Miami turned the ball over on downs in their final possession. Buffalo hosts the Cincinnati Bengals as home favorites in next week’s Divisional Round. 

Jones Leads Giants To Upset Over Vikings

The New York Giants batted with the Minnesota Vikings to come away with their first playoff win since 2012 to get a 31-24 victory. Daniel Jones played well in the biggest game of his young career, throwing for 301 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 78 yards in the first postseason game. He also became the first quarterback in NFL history to put up those numbers in the postseason.

Kirk Cousins was 31-39 for 273 yards for Minnesota, but the Giants shut down the NFL’s leading receiver, Justin Jefferson, who was double-teamed all day and held to 47 yards on seven catches. New York must travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in the second Divisional Round game on Saturday.
