Last night, we built our same-game parlay around game one of the Seattle Kraken vs Dallas Stars second-round matchup in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Kraken had a 4-2 lead after the first period, taking only 20 minutes to hit the over, but the Stars fought back and forced overtime.
Ultimately, the Seattle Kraken won in overtime 5-4, taking a 1-0 series lead. While our picks for Dallas to win and for this game to follow the trends and hit the under completely busted, the Kraken did cover the spread, giving us one win yesterday.
With our arch-nemesis from the depths of Puget Sound pulling off the upset, our weekly parlay record drops to 0-3, while our record on individual picks stands at 5-4.
We need a win desperately and need to be reconnected to our parlay blog championship belt because we miss her so much, so we’re taking a different path. Here is our winning parlay for Wednesday night using only total points/goals lines.
Philadelphia 76ers versus Boston Celtics Over 216.5 (-115)
The 76ers have a 47-40 over/under record, while the Celtics have gone 45-41-3 over/under.
In their five head-to-head matchups this season, Boston and Philly have combined for a 2-3 over/under record, including eclipsing Monday’s total points line of 215.5 by 18.5 points without Joel Embiid on the floor.
The 76ers have a 3-3 playoff over/under record, while Boston has gone 5-2 over/under in the playoffs and has hit the over in five straight games.
We’re taking the 76ers and Celtics to hit the over for a second straight game.
New Jersey Devils versus Carolina Hurricanes Over 5.5 (+110)
The Devils and Hurricanes combined for a 2-2 over/under record in their four head-to-head meetings this season. New Jersey has a 44-41-4 over/under record, while the Carolina Hurricanes have a 37-47-4 over/under record.
The Canes had a 3-3 over/under record in the first round, while the Devils went 3-4 over/under.
New Jersey averaged 2.43 goals per game in the first round, while the Hurricanes averaged 2.67 goals per game. While we expect this game to be close and both teams likely starting goalies have been excellent in the playoffs, we’re taking game one to hit the over.
Edmonton Oilers versus Vegas Golden Knights Over 6.5 (-125)
When you read that the blog’s parlay picks today were all on the totals lines, you likely anticipated the return of the Kings of the Over to the parlay blog.
The McDavids of the North have earned their moniker “the Kings of the Over” with a 52-28-8 over/under record. The Golden Knights have a 40-42-5 over/under record.
The over is 3-0-1 in the four head-to-head matchups this season.
The Oilers had a 4-2 over/under record in the first round, averaged 4.17 goals per game, and the powerplay converted at 56.2%.
VGK had a 4-1 over/under record and averaged 3.8 goals in their five games against the Winnipeg Jets, while their powerplay operated at 18.8%.
Take the McDavids and the Kings of the Over to hit the over yet again.
