The NBA and NHL continue to ramp up as we move through the year’s first half. With a few big games scheduled, let’s look at how we think three matches will play out.

Boston Celtics (-9.5) over Detroit Pistons

With a 9-3 record this season, the Boston Celtics are second in the Eastern Conference. Leading the team is Jayson Tatum, who averages 31.4 points per game. He also leads the team in rebounds at 7.0 per game. Last night, they beat the Denver Nuggets 131-112 and now they’re looking to take down the Detroit Pistons.

The Detroit Pistons have lost their last two games, one of which was to the Celtics. They have a 3-10 record this season and recently lost 128-112 to the Celtics. Marvin Bagley III has been ruled out this season and Cade Cunningham is questionable. Because of this, we’ll take the Celtics at -9.5.

Portland Trail Blazers (+5) over Dallas Mavericks

The Portland Trail Blazers have a 6-1 record on the road this season. With an overall record of 9-3, they’re getting ready to take on the Dallas Mavericks. The main problem is they have several players on the injury list. Even with these players out, they earned three back-to-back wins. They’ll look to add another win to their list tonight.

The Dallas Mavericks will be without Davis Bertans for tonight’s game. They’ve lost their last two games, one of which was to the Orlando Magic. With the team struggling to win games, the Trail Blazers are our pick for this game. They’re coming in as five-point underdogs, so they should at least be able to cover.

Winnipeg Jets (+120) over Calgary Flames

The final game that we’re going to look at is the Winnipeg Jets at the Calgary Flames. The Jets have a record of 8-3-1 with a 3-2-1 record on the road. They’ve won their last three games, including a 5-1 win over the Dallas Stars. As a team, they’re allowing just 2.33 goals per game and scoring 3.17 goals themselves.

The Calgary Flames are 5-6-2 this season with a 4-4-1 record on the road. This team has lost their last seven games this season. They’ve all been very close losses but nonetheless, they’re losses. With that being said, we’ll take the Winnipeg Jets over the Calgary Flames this evening.
