The NHL and NBA continue to ramp up as we move through the first portion of the current season. With a couple of big bouts scheduled today, let’s take a quick look at how we think three games will play out.
Golden State Warriors (-10.5) Houston Rockets
The Golden State Warriors have a record of 10-1 at home this season. After losing 116-113 to the Dallas Mavericks, the Warriors will look to bounce back today.
They have one of the highest-scoring teams in the league and will need all of it today. Each game, the Warriors average 117.5 points per game, ranking third in the NBA.
The Houston Rockets have a record of 6-16 with a record of 3-11 on the road.
They’ll head into this game as heavy underdogs and recently lost to the Utah Jazz. In fact, they lost two straight games to the Utah Jazz. As they prepare to face the Warriors, we’d recommend the team with the better offense.
Go with the Warriors over the Houston Rockets at -10.5.
Utah Jazz (-4.5) over Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers have a record of 11-11 this season and are 7-6 on the road. They’ve lost four of their last five NBA games, including a recent 128-109 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
With several players sidelined for the Trail Blazers, we don’t think they’re a good option. This is especially true since the Jazz are coming off a huge win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
With a record of 14-11 this season, the Utah Jazz are in a pretty good spot. They have a positive 8-3 record at home, even though they’re missing a few players. Both Mike Conley and Rudy Gay have been ruled out, which might be a problem.
Still, even without these players, we’ll take them at -4.5 over the Trail Blazers.
Seattle Kraken (-110) over Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers have a record of 11-9-4 this season and are 5-7-1 on the road. The Panthers have lost three of their last five games on the road this season.
Although they recently beat the Vancouver Canucks, we don’t think they’re a good pick this weekend. Instead, we’d rather go with the team that is currently on a winning streak.
The Seattle Kraken has a record of 15-5-3 to start the season. They’ve won their last seven games and are one of the highest-scoring squads in the NHL.
On average, the Kraken are putting up 3.78 goals per game while allowing 3.04. Look for the Kraken to get a win over the Panthers on Saturday night.
