We’re still working through the first half of the NBA and NHL seasons. With a few big games scheduled today, let’s take a look at how we think three matches will play out.
Winnipeg Jets (-115) over St. Louis Blues
The Winnipeg Jets average 3.29 goals per game at the moment and allow just 2.54. Over their last five games, they’ve gone 4-1 this season.
With a strong offense and a pretty great defense, they’ll head to St. Louis to face the Blues. After beating the Florida Panthers 5-2, they should be in good shape to win this one.
The St. Louis Blues have won just one game in their last five matches. With an offense that is scoring just 3.04 goals per game, we can see why.
It’s also important to note that their defense is allowing 3.85 goals per game. Even though they’re at home today, we’ll go with the Jets at -115 over the Blues.
San Antonio Spurs (+1.5) over Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets come into this game as 1.5-point favorites. After a double-overtime win of 132-123 over the Philadelphia 76ers, they’ll face the San Antonio Spurs.
They have an overall record of 7-17 and are 3-12 on the road this season. There is a big problem, however, as they’re missing Jae’Sean Tate again tonight.
The San Antonio Spurs are dealing with quite a few injuries as well. Keita Bates-Diop, one of their small forwards, has been ruled out for today’s game.
The Spurs have lost their last eleven games and are in desperate need of a win. Tonight’s matchup against the Rockets will give them a chance to pick one up.
Portland Trail Blazers (+1) over Denver Nuggets
Both of these teams have a fairly good record, with the Denver Nuggets having the edge. They’re 14-10 this season with an 8-7 record on the road.
Leading the team in scoring is Nikola Jokic, who averages 23 points per game. Still, even with Jokic playing well, they’ve lost their last three games.
The Portland Trail Blazers have a record of 13-11 this season and are 5-5 at home. They’ve won their last two games, including a big one over the Utah Jazz.
With the added advantage of playing at home, the Trail Blazers are our pick for this one. The spread isn’t very large, but they should win the game outright.
