We’re seeking the appropriate response for our terribly failed parlay last night. It’s been a while, and all we’ve come up with are “wowzers” and “yikes.” Yikes, indeed.
Scripts were not followed last night as the McDavids defeated the horrible Anaheim Ducks 3-1, coming nowhere close to hitting the over, while the Grizzlies lost to the New Orleans Pelicans 138-131, cruising past the over easier than Max Verstappen does the field on an average Sunday in Formula 1.
As for the Calgary Flames: The Flames have played to a script all year, and we should have known they’d actually get up enough to defeat the Winnipeg Jets 24 hours after losing to the Chicago Blackhawks. That’s a very Flames-y thing to do.
Yeah, we’re 0-3-1 on parlays, with a vomit-inducing 2-9-1 record on individual picks. Today’s same-game parlay will either bring our long, lost parlay blog championship home or make our week of picks continue the trend of being our worst week ever.
New York Rangers over St. Louis Blues (-169)
The New York Rangers played last night, winning their third game in the last five games and going 7-3 in the last ten. The Rangers have a 23-9-7 road record.
The St. Louis Blues have won three of the last five games and have a 6-4 record in the last ten games. The Blues are 17-16-6 at home.
The Rangers won the first meeting this season 6-4, the favorite is 4-1 in the last five, and are clearly the better team. Take the Rangers.
New York Rangers +1.5 over St. Louis Blues (+130)
In the Rangers’ last seven wins, they’ve covered the spread in five of those matchups and have a 44-34 ATS record.
The Blues have only lost by more than 1.5 goals once in the last four losses and are 39-39 ATS.
We’ll take the Rangers to cover the spread.
New York Rangers vs St. Louis Blues Over 6.5 (-130)
The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and 3-1-1 in the last five meetings.
However, the Rangers are 3-6-1 over/under in the last ten, while the Blues are 7-3 over/under in the last ten.
We expect Jaroslav Halak to get the start against the Blues, making us lean toward the over.
