We finally welcomed the NBA back into the parlay blog fold, hoping to regain our blog betting championship. We knew it would be risky and that Friday’s waters were a little murky.

Unfortunately, the Florida Panthers were missing a few major scoring pieces and didn’t do their part to hit the over, but our Buffalo Sabres did get a win to help their playoff hopes. Over on the hardwood, we thought the Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers were going to hit the under, and both teams put on an offensive display and unexpectedly crushed the over.

However, the Milwaukee Bucks did defeat the Miami Heat. While we have a 2-4 daily blog record, we are 11-7 on individual picks.

We’re going back to the ice for our final same-game parlay of the week. We’ve kept the difficulty level high, choosing a game featuring one of the best teams in the NHL and a team currently playing excellent hockey.

Tampa Bay Lightning over Detroit Red Wings (-159)

The Tampa Bay Lightning are ranked fifth overall in the NHL, while the Detroit Red Wings are in a three-way tie for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot with the Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres.

This pick is based on Detorit’s recent performances and against the Lightning this season. Detroit is playing excellent hockey right now and has been highly competitive against the Lightning in 2023, winning both games.

We’re taking Tampa Bay to win, but Detroit is playing for its playoff chances with every game and will be playing like it.

We’re taking Detroit to keep this game close and cover the spread but lose in the end.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Detroit Red Wings Over 6.5 (+100)

We expect Brian Elliot to get the start for Tampa Bay over Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has started the last three games in a row. Elliot has a higher goals-against average and lower save percentage than Vasilevskiy, giving this game a better chance to hit the over.

The over is 8-3 in the last 15 Lightning vs Red Wings matchups in Detroit. The Red Wings have hit the under in the last two games and have a 5-4-1 over/under record in the last ten. The Lightning has hit the over in the straight games and has a 6-3-1 over/under record in the last ten.

One final point: Brian Elliot was in the net for the Lightning’s 7-4 loss to the Red Wings.
