AFC Championship: Bengals Do the Unthinkable vs Chiefs

Conference Championship Recap

The Super Bowl matchup is set, and it’s very unexpected. The Cincinnati Bengals beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. The Bengals were +20000 at the beginning of the season to win the Super Bowl. This was the same odds given to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The NFC will be represented by the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams survived at home against the 49ers but could not cover the spread. The Super Bowl matchup is intriguing, but before placing a bet, we must look back at Championship Sunday.

Championship Sunday told us a lot about these two teams, and it will help us win money on the Super Bowl. Here is your Conference Championship recap.

Bengals Do the Unthinkable

The Cincinnati Bengals beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17 to claim the AFC North title. This was a huge victory for the team, but there many skeptics. Ja’Marr Chase had the game of his life and caught every jump ball.

Additionally, the Bengals won the game on their home turf. A lot of people believed things were going to be different heading into the AFC Championship Game. Arrowhead Stadium was allegedly a tough environment to play in, but Cincinnati was unphased.

Joe Burrow looked tremendous and was unphased by the moment. It was so impressive to watch, and it made me very happy as a Bengals bettor. The Chiefs came out and steamrolled the Bengals in the first half.

Chiefs Fall Short in the Championship

Patrick Mahomes scored on the first three drives of the game, but he was unable to find the endzone in the second half. The Chiefs were stopped on the goal line heading into the locker room. This gave Cincinnati life, and they owned the second half.

The game went to overtime, and Mahomes threw his second interception. This gave the Bengals the ball back, and they drove down the field and kicked a game-winning field goal. Chiefs Kingdom was stunned by the moment.

Nobody expected the Bengals to show up and pull off the upset. They were 7.5 point underdogs and +280 on the money line. The game also stayed under the total of 55 points. You need to give the Bengals some credit, but the Chiefs blew this game.

They were unable to protect Mahomes in the second half, and it resulted in their downfall. The Chiefs should have rolled based on the first half, but they went into the locker room up and did not keep the gas on the pedal.
