Nevada Wolf Pack Back Doo Covered

Our bad beat of the week for this week features some Mountain West after dark action. The Nevada Wolf Pack back door covered against the Fresno State Bulldogs on an absolute heartbreaker for Fresno bettors. If you weren’t one of the degenerates who stayed up until 11 to watch the end of this one, allow me to recap how it ended. 

Nevada (+3.5) went back and forth with Fresno all game. The Bulldogs led by 12 going into the 4th, so bettors who took the favorite were probably feeling confident going into the final frame. But this is the Mountain West, where anything can happen. 

The Pack found paydirt four seconds into the quarter to cut the lead to five. Fresno bettors were starting to sweat. The Bulldogs tacked on a pair of unanswered field goals. The second one coming with about six minutes left to go up 11 and -3.5 seemed to be well on its way to a win. Nevada responded with a field goal of their own just a minute later. Now it’s a ball game. 

Fresno went three and out on their next drive and were forced to punt. How would the Wolf Pack respond? By fumbling on the third play of the drive. The Bulldogs took over at midfield with just under two minutes left. They’ve got the cover in the bag right? Well they played it a little too conservative and were forced to punt after gaining just seven yards. 

Nevada regained possession at their own 10 with just 53 seconds left. No way they cover, right? Well QB Carson Strong led a march down the field and got the ball to Fresno’s 12 with just two seconds left. The sweat is pouring. Strong dropped back and found receiver Cole Turner in the endzone with two seconds left. They attempted to go for two but failed. But that did not matter to +3.5 bettors. A, seemingly meaningless, 51-second drive to cover the spread with 2 seconds left. You can’t beat that.
