Bruins at Blue Jackets Betting Preview and Predictions

Boston Bruins Travel to Columbus to Face the Blue Jackets

The Boston Bruins will travel to the Nationwide Arena on Saturday evening as they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in an Eastern Conference matchup.

This game is slated to be the first of three matchups against one another, so it will be a great spot to indicate where we should be leaning in the future. The Bruins are fourth in the Atlantic Division (32-18-4, 68 points) and are coming off a 4-3 road loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

The Blue Jackets are fifth in the Metropolitan Division (28-25-1, 57 points) and are coming off a 4-3 home win over the New Jersey Devils.

These teams seem to be at two different levels right now, so it will be an interesting matchup between these teams to determine on who should we be betting.

Game Preview: Boston Bruins at Columbus Blue Jackets March 5th

Right winger David Pastrnak has recorded 59 points (29 goals, 25 assists), and left winger Brad Marchand scored 54 points (23 goals, 31 assists) this season and are doing extremely well as a duo.

Despite the strong play, the Bruins are scoring 2.96 goals on 35.2 shots per game which is less than the Blue Jackets, which is at 3.26 goals on 29.8 shot attempts thus far.

The major separating point between these two clubs has been on the power play as Boston’s 24.4 power play percentage is seventh in the sport while Columbus’ 17.2 power play percentage is tied for 23rd in the NHL.

Defensively, there is a bit of a difference as the Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark is 17-9-1 with a 90.8 save percentage and 2.80 goals allowed per game. Compare that to the Blue Jackets’ Elvis Merzlikins is 19-14-1 with a 90.4 save percentage and giving up 3.40 goals per game. There seems to be a bit of a divide in this game, and the Bruins should be way ahead in this department.

Boston Bruins at Columbus Blue Jackets Betting Prediction

Looking at the defensive output from their previous four games, the Bruins are giving up just 1.75 goals while the Blue Jackets are allowing 3.25 goals in the same stretch of games. Boston is also dominant on the road as they are currently 16-8-3 away from Boston this season.

Columbus is dealing with injuries with some centers and defensemen on the injury report, so the line changes are going to put them at a disadvantage in this game.

We should be in for an exciting NHL match! Go with the Boston Bruins to cover the puck line in this game as they are the better team on the ice in this game.
