Crush Your Bookie Week 9 College Football Best Bets

We’re coming off a 5-5 weekend so the winning streak isn’t technically dead. Plus we started out 0-3, so finishing 5-5 is about as much as we could ask for. We’ve got a good slate of games to dive into for week nine. Let’s ride 

Louisiana Monroe +28  vs. Appalachian State 

The Warhawks of Louisiana Monroe are one of the feel good gambling stories of the year. They were a team who nobody expected to win more than a few games and they have won outright when facing two of the biggest spreads this year. They beat Troy as 23.5 point underdogs and Liberty as a 32.5 point pup. And what do you know, they’re massive underdogs again. ULM has been good ATS against Appy State lately. They are 4-2 ATS in the last six meetings between the two conference foes. The Mountaineers, however, have only covered seven times in their last 20 games overall. They are coming off a very emotional win against Coastal Carolina last week so this is a tough spot to face a scrappy Warhawks team. They do not do well ATS coming off a win, only covering thrice out of their last 10 games after a dub. Appy State also struggles against winning teams. They are a mere 1-5 ATS in the last six versus a team with a winning record. It’s time to start respecting Louisiana Monroe. We fly with the Warhawks. 

Florida State +10 vs. Clemson

These are two programs trending in opposite directions. The Seminoles have started to get their act together, recently. They have won three in a row and seem to be getting their swagger back. The Tigers, however, can’t seem to do anything right. They are coming off a bad loss to Pitt and are one of two teams to fail to cover the spread this season. Clemson can’t do anything at all on offense, while Florida State currently boasts a top 20 rushing offense in the country. Dabo’s bunch has dominated this matchup lately, but this is not the Clemson of yesteryear. I’ll take the Noles to cover against an anemic Tiger offense. Clemson shouldn’t be double-digit favorites against anyone and Florida State needs a statement game. They may very well get it here. Back Florida State. 

Southern Methodist vs. Houston O62.5

This could definitely be one of the most entertaining games of the weekend. SMU has no problem slinging the ball all over the yard. They have yet to score less than 30 points in a game this season. Houston isn’t a slouch on offense, either. They have only scored less than 30 once this year and that was the first game of the season. Since that game, the total has only gone under twice for Houston. And one of those was a 45-0 drubbing of Grambling State. Like I said, SMU has no problem moving the football, and Vegas knows it. This total is the second lowest for a Mustang game this season. Both teams like to push the pace and put points on the board. In the immortal words of Lane Kiffin, “Get your popcorn ready.” This one will be fun.
