Here’s an overview of some of the top games in sports being played on May 30. Today, we’re taking a closer look at five games from Major League Baseball and the NHL.

Houston Astros vs. Oakland Athletics – 4:07 PM ET

We’ll begin today’s daily sports bets with the game between the Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics. The Astros are 30-18, ranking first in the AL West, and are coming off a win over the Mariners. On the road again, the Astros will start Framber Valdez on the mound tonight. Valdez has an impressive 4-2 record this season with an ERA of 2.83.

Although Valdez has a rather impressive record, the Athletics are starting the 5-0 Paul Blackburn. Blackburn has thrown 47.2 innings this season and posted an ERA of 1.70. With such incredible pitching in today’s game, it’ll come down to the batters. The Astros have a sizable edge there, so we’ll take Houston on the road -180.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox – 7:10 PM ET

Moving to a later game in the day, we’ll see the Baltimore Orioles face the Boston Red Sox. The Orioles are 20-29 this season and have an 8-18 record on the road. With such poor performances this season, it’s hard to imagine them beating the Red Sox. On the mound for Baltimore is Tyler Wells, who has a 1-4 record as a starter.

The Boston Red Sox are 23-25, which isn’t much better than the Orioles. The good news for Boston is they’re playing at home, where they have a 12-12 record. Boston also has a sizable lead on the Orioles in terms of team batting average. The Red Sox’s batting average is .262, one of the best in MLB. Because of this, we’ll take the Red Sox at home -170.

New York Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes – 8:00 PM ET

This is the final game of the series between these two teams. After taking seven games to complete, this one will finally come to a close. The Rangers pulled off a huge 5-2 win just a few nights ago, staving off elimination. Lucky for the Rangers, they played Game 6 at home. However, Game 7 will be on the road against Carolina, which is a tougher task.

The Hurricanes’ offense will likely be on full display tonight. The question is, can their defense hold up their end of the bargain? They’ve allowed New York to score 2.16 goals per game in this series, which isn’t bad. The problem is, they’ve allowed the Rangers to score five goals in a game before. Still, at home, we’ve got to go with the Hurricanes -150. Carolina is winless on the road in the playoffs, but they’re undefeated at PNC Arena this postseason.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Texas Rangers – 8:05 PM ET

The Tampa Bay Rays have won three of their last five games. Two of these games were back-to-back wins over the New York Yankees. Tonight, they’ll put Drew Rasmussen, their best pitcher on the mound against the Rangers. Rasmussen has a record of 5-1 as a starter this season with an ERA of 2.68. The Rays definitely have the edge in terms of pitching.

Texas will send the 2-2 Glenn Otto to the mound tonight. He’s tasked with facing a Rays team that has a team batting average of .234. The Rangers have a team batting average of .231, similar to the Rays. Otto has an ERA of 4.91 this season so again, the advantage goes to the Rays. We’ll take Tampa Bay on the road against the Rangers -140.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Los Angeles Dodgers – 10:10 PM ET

Our last game of the day is between the Pirates and the Dodgers. The Pittsburgh Pirates have a record of 19-27 and have gone 8-13 on the road this season. Unfortunately, they’re playing one of the best teams in Major League Baseball tonight. They’ll send the 2-4 Zach Thompson out to the mound and hope for the best. However, Thompson will face some tough competition today.

The Dodgers are sending their ace Walker Buehler to the mound for them tonight. Buehler has a record of 6-1 this season and an ERA of 2.91 over 52.2 innings. Along with that, the Dodgers have some incredible batting with a team batting average of .253. Between these two, the Dodgers are easily the best bet.
