Here’s an overview of some of the top games in sports being played on June 16. Today, we’re taking a closer look at five games from Major League Baseball and the NBA Finals.

Oakland Athletics vs. Boston Red Sox – 1:35 PM ET

Beginning our day of sports betting is a game between the Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox. The Athletics have lost their last three games, two of which were to the Boston Red Sox. Yesterday, the Red Sox were beaten 10-1 by the Red Sox’s supreme batting. In an effort to combat that, the Athletics will start the 5-2 Paul Blackburn, who has an ERA of 2.31.

The Boston Red Sox has a tough test as they take on Blackburn. However, as a team, the Red Sox have one of the best batting averages in MLB at .257. They’ll send Rich Hill out to the mound today who has a record of 2-3. His ERA is also much worse than Blackburn’s at 4.38. We’ll actually take the upset here and pick the Athletics +140.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Washington Nationals – 7:05 PM ET

The Philadelphia Phillies have won three of their last five games and now face the Nationals. Their most recent game was against the Miami Marlins, a team they beat 3-1. Tonight, they’ve designated Zack Wheeler as the starting pitcher. Wheeler not only has a great 5-3 record as a starter but has an ERA of 2.84 as well.

The Washington Nationals are sending out the 3-8 Patrick Corbin, who has had a tough year. Corbin has an ERA of 6.65 over the course of 66.1 innings with 55 strikeouts. However, he can rely a bit on the bats of the Nationals who have an average of .255. Still, we don’t think the Nationals can take down the Phillies so we’ll take Philadelphia -215.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. New York Mets – 7:10 PM ET

This game ended up rather strange yesterday as the Brewers won 10-2. Milwaukee’s batters really showed up last night and their pitching stalemated the Mets. Unfortunately, tonight the Brewers will start the 1-5 Aaron Ashby. To be fair, Asby’s record doesn’t necessarily reflect his ERA of 3.91 this season.

The New York Mets had a tough game yesterday and are looking to bounce back. To do this, they’ll need much better pitching, which is where Tylor Megill comes in. Megill has a record of 4-2 as a starter but his ERA of 4.50 is worrisome. The Mets batters should have a good game against Ashby though, so we’ll take the Mets -130.

Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics – 9:00 PM ET

Our next game is the NBA Finals matchup between the Warriors and Celtics. The Golden State Warriors currently lead the series 3-2. With the Celtics on the brink of elimination, the Warriors now have to travel to Boston. Playing Boston on the road isn’t an easy task, however, the Warriors did claim a win before.

The key here for the Celtics is stopping Stephen Curry, who has played really well this series. Another player for the Celtics to keep an eye on is Andrew Wiggins, who scored 26 points in Game 5. Boston has a record of 28-13 at home during the season, which makes us lean in their direction -4.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners – 10:10 PM ET

You might have to stay up a bit later to watch this one but it should be a good game. The Angels, who have lost four of their last five games, will start Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani was a big factor in the Angels’ last win over the Mets on June 11th. Ohtani has an ERA of 3.64 this season and a record of 4-4 as a starter.

The Mariners can’t let Ohtani get on a roll against their batters. As a team, Seattle has a batting average of .236, slightly behind the Angels. On the mound tonight is George Kirby, who has a 1-1 record as a starter. This is a great matchup for the Angels considering Kirby has only pitched 37 innings this season. We’ll go with the road team in this one, Angels -120.
