Dallas Stars at Carolina Hurricanes Preview and Predictions

Dallas Stars Travel to Carolina to Face the Hurricanes

The Dallas Stars will travel to the PNC Arena on Thursday evening to take on the Carolina Hurricanes in an Eastern Conference vs Western Conference showdown.

The Stars are currently fifth in the Central Division (33-24-3, 69 points) and are sitting three points out of the Western Conference playoffs, while the Hurricanes are leading the Metropolitan Division (41-14-6, 88 points).

This will be the second and final regular-season game against one another. Dallas was able to pick up a 4-1 home victory back on November 30th.

These teams can really play well and have some solid players on the roster that will step up into that next gear as the end of the regular season is within sight. Let’s take a closer look at Dallas and Carolina to determine which side we should be betting on.

Match Preview: Dallas Stars at Carolina Hurricanes March 24th

Dallas is doing decently well on the offensive side of the ice as they are scoring 2.88 goals on 30.9 shot attempts this season. Center Joe Pavelski has been leading the charge as he is tied for 31st in the NHL in assists and tied for 33rd in hockey in points as he has scored 60 points (23 goals, 37 assists). He scored just one point in his last five games.

On the defensive side of things, the Stars are giving up 2.97 goals on 30.9 shots thus far. A big reason has been the production by goalie Jake Oettinger as he has a 20-10-1 record with 2.49 goals allowed per game with a .916 save percentage.

The Hurricanes are being led offensively by center Sebastian Aho as he is tied for 21st in the sport in goals and tied for 26th in points as he has posted 61 points (27 goals, 34 assists) while adding three points in his previous five games.

As a team on the offensive side of things, they are averaging 3.31 goals on 33.5 shots thus far. Goaltender Frederik Andersen has been playing extremely well and is one of the best in the game as he has a 30-9-2 record with a .928 save percentage and 2.08 goals allowed per game.

Carolina is doing pretty well as they are allowing 2.38 goals on 29 shot attempts up to this point in the season.

Dallas Stars at Carolina Hurricanes Betting Prediction

Having someone like Frederik Andersen inside of the net is going to dominate this game and limit the amount of goals scored on him. The major difference is on the penalty killing side, as the Stars have a 78.2 penalty kill percentage while the Hurricanes are dominant with an 89.1 penalty kill percentage this season.

Carolina is 29-32 against the spread this season, while Dallas is sitting at 26-34 against the spread. All in all, go with the Carolina Hurricanes on the puck line, as they are the better team in this matchup.
