Seattle Kraken Travel to Carolina to Face the Hurricanes
The Seattle Kraken will travel to the PNC Arena on Sunday evening to take on the Carolina Hurricanes in a non-conference matchup. The Kraken are currently last in the Pacific Division (17-34-5, 39 points) and are coming off a 4-3 home win against the Nashville Predators.
The Hurricanes are leading the Metropolitan Division (37-11-5, 79 points) and are coming off a 4-3 overtime road loss against the Detroit Red Wings.
This is the second and final matchup against one another as the Kraken picked up a 2-1 home win back in late November. Let’s take a closer look into these franchises to determine which side is a better bet in this game.
Game Preview: Seattle Kraken at Carolina Hurricanes March 6th
The Seattle Kraken are struggling to be a good offensive team as they are averaging 2.55 goals on 28.3 shot attempts compared to Carolina’s 3.47 goals on 33.2 shot attempts this season.
The centers are leading the way for these teams but let’s start off with the Kraken as they are being led by center Yanni Gourde. He has recorded 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) and scored three points in his last four games. For the Hurricanes, center Sebastian Aho has been dominant as he has 56 points (24 goals, 32 assists) and has scored at least a point in nine of the previous ten games.
Defense is a major difference, and we will begin with Seattle. They are allowing 3.54 goals on 28.8 shot attempts this season. They need goalie Philipp Grubauer to step up as he is 12-23-5 with an 88.8 save percentage with 3.17 goals allowed per game.
On the Carolina side of things, they are giving up 2.38 goals on 29 shot attempts against them. Goaltender Frederik Andersen is currently dominating as he is 29-7-2 with 2.03 goals given up with a 93.0 save percentage this season.
Seattle Kraken at Carolina Hurricanes Betting Prediction
There is a major difference in the level of talent, especially with center Jared McCann (undisclosed) is on the Injured Reserve for Seattle, and he is the best scoring option for the Kraken, while Carolina is cruising and picking up wins at an astonishing rate.
The major difference, especially as of late, has been on the defensive side of the ice as the Kraken are giving up 3.8 goals in their previous five games while the Hurricanes are allowing 1.7 goals in their last three games.
Seattle is 25-31 against the spread this season while Carolina is currently 27-26 against the spread so far, so go with the Carolina Hurricanes to cover the puck line at home as the better team.
