The NBA kicks off another week of basketball with the Golden State Warriors in control of the Western Conference. They have to keep the pace up, though, as the Utah Jazz is right on their trail.
The Warriors aren’t the only team doing well in the West, though; the Dallas Mavericks are red hot too. Although it’s early in the season, each of these teams is fighting for positioning.
In the Eastern Conference, there’s only one team better than the Miami Heat. The Philadelphia 76ers have a slight lead in the conference, but Miami is following closely. Both the 76ers and Heat will face some tough competition this week.
We could see the top spots in the Eastern Conference shuffle by the time the week ends. Let’s take a look at some of this week’s games.
The Minnesota Timberwolves head to Los Angeles to face the Lakers. Minnesota started their season well but has fallen off since. They currently sit towards the bottom of the Western Conference.
They’re also one of the worst teams to take against the spread, currently 2-6 ATS. Still, they aren’t as bad as the Lakers are at the sportsbook.
Although the Los Angeles Lakers have a superstar-packed team, they’re 5-5 so far this year. Injuries are going to be a big problem in this game; LeBron James and Anthony Davis will likely be out.
That being said, if Los Angeles can get a few players back, they should be able to cover at home. Especially against the weak Timberwolves offense.
