It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Thursday’s schedule.
Cleveland Guardians vs. Detroit Tigers – 1:10 PM ET
With a record of 58-52, the Cleveland Guardians face the 43-69 Detroit Tigers tonight. Cleveland is currently on a four-game winning streak after beating the Tigers 3-2 last night. Leading the series 2-0, the Guardians will start the 2-10 Zach Plesac tonight. Plesac has an ERA of 4.49 over the span of 108.1 innings.
The Detroit Tigers have a 26-32 record at home this season. Garrett Hill, who has a better record than Plesac at 2-3, will start tonight. Although hill has a better win percentage, he has an ERA of 5.12. The Guardians have a sizable advantage over the Tigers at the plate as well. Cleveland comes into this game as -170 favorites and we’ll take them on the road tonight.
Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals – 2:10 PM ET
Our next game is between the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals. The White Sox, with a record of 56-55, have won only two of their last five games. Yesterday, they suffered an 8-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals. On the mound today is Dylan Cease, who has had an incredible season. With a 12-4 record and an ERA of 1.98, he gives the White Sox the advantage here.
The Kansas City Royals have a record of 46-66 this season and are 27-32 at home. Getting the start today is Zack Greinke, who is 3-7 with an ERA of 4.58 this season. These teams are pretty even at the plate so the biggest difference is with the pitchers. Although the White Sox lost to the Royals yesterday, we’ll take them tonight at -190.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Colorado Rockies – 3:10 PM ET
The series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies is tied at 1-1. After losing 16-5 a few days ago, the Cardinals bounced back with a 9-5 win last night. The 6-6 Dakota Hudson will get the start for the Cardinals tonight. Hudson has an ERA of 4.20 over the span of 105 innings with only 56 strikeouts.
Between these two teams, it’s hard to tell who has the advantage on the mound. The Rockies are starting German Marquez, who is 6-8 this season with an ERA of 5.18. Although his ERA is worse, Marquez has thrown 98 strikeouts this season. The Rockies also have an edge at the plate, batting .265 this season. We’ll take the Rockies to win this one +100.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – 3:40 PM ET
At the moment the Pittsburgh Pirates are down in their series against the Diamondbacks. However, they were able to steal a win on the road last night when they won 6-4. Pitching is a big problem for the Pirates as they start JT Brubaker tonight. Brubaker has a record of 2-10 this season with an ERA of 4.49.
Getting the start for the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight is Merrill Kelly, who is 10-5. With an ERA of 2.89, it’s clear to see why the Diamondbacks are -190 favorites. Arizona performs better at the plate than the Pirates do as well. It’s not great but the Diamondbacks have a batting average of .228 compared to the Pirates’ .220. We’ll take Arizona -190 to win this one.
Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds – 7:15 PM ET
The final game we’re going to cover is between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds. The Cubs have a record of 45-65 this season and are starting Drew Smyly. Smyly has gone 4-6 this season with an ERA of 3.97, giving the Cubs a slight advantage. Chicago also has a slight edge at the plate over the Reds, so keep that in mind.
The Cincinnati Reds have lost their last three games, all to the New York Mets. Nick Lodolo is tasked with taking on the batters for the Cubs tonight. This season, Lodolo is 3-3 with a 4.40 ERA over the course of 43 innings. With a .239 batting average at the plate, we’re going to take the Cubs on the road -105.
