It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Monday’s schedule.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Miami Marlins – 6:40 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates enter this game with a record of 36-50. Although as a team, they’re well under .500, they just won two games in a row. They begin their series against the Marlins tonight, which will span four games. The 2-6 Mitch Keller will get the start on the mound, Keller has an ERA of 5.21. The Pirates have also been pretty bad at the plate this season.
The Miami Marlins will send out the 4-7 Trevor Rogers, who has a 5.57 ERA. Rogers has thrown 67 strikeouts in 72.2 innings. At the plate, the Marlins have a significant advantage over the Pirates with a team batting average of .242. The Marlins also have a 20-17 record at home this year so we’ll take Miami -160.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 7:15 PM ET
At the moment, the Philadelphia Phillies lead this series 2-1. With a win tonight the Phillies could close the series 3-1 and improve their 46-40 record. Taking the mound this evening is Aaron Nola, who has had some struggles as a starter. Nola has a record of 5-6 with a 3.15 ERA after pitching 111.1 innings.
Both the Phillies and the Cardinals perform similarly at the plate. Philadelphia has a team batting average of .247, while the Cardinals have a .249. The main difference here is pitching and how deep the bullpen is. The Cardinals will send out the 5-7 Miles Mikolas. Don’t let the record fool you, Mikolas has a 2.72 ERA. We’ll take the home team -105 in this one.
New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:20 PM ET
The New York Mets are 3-2 over their last five games. Their most recent game was a 2-0 loss to the Miami Marlins. Today, they start another series against the Atlanta Braves, a team they’re very familiar with. The pitching battle today will see the 5-1 Max Scherzer face off against the 9-2 Max Fried. Each of these pitchers has been at the top of their game lately.
The Mets have a slight advantage in terms of batting, but not by much. The Mets have a team batting average of .255 while the Braves have a .251. Fried has an ERA of 2.52 which is only slightly worse than Scherzer’s 2.26. After yesterday’s loss, however, we think the Mets will rally back to win this one.
Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals – 8:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers have a record of 36-49 and are 13-25 on the road this season. The Tigers have also lost their last two games, both of which to the Chicago White Sox. Alex Faedo, 1-4 as a starter, will take the mound for the Tigers tonight. Faedo has an ERA of 5.02 over the course of 52 innings. The Tigers also have a lackluster .230 at the plate this season.
The Kansas City Royals have a similar record to the Tigers at 32-52 but have a few notable wins. For starters, the Royals just beat the Cleveland Guardians 5-1 yesterday afternoon. They also have a 7-4 win over the Houston Astros under their belt. The 3-7 Daniel Lynch will get the start today, Lynch has an ERA of 4.95. Although it’ll be close, we’ll go with the Royals -135.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Francisco Giants – 9:45 PM ET
The final game we’re going to look at is the Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants. The Diamondbacks, with a record of 38-48, have lost four of their last five games. The good news is that Merrill Kelly will take the mound for them tonight. Kelly is 7-5 as a starter with an ERA of 3.42 this season. Arizona hopes that he could get them a win tonight.
The San Francisco Giants are sending out the 3-3 Alex Cobb tonight. Cobb has an ERA of 4.74 over the course of just 57 innings. The Giants landed a huge 12-0 victory over the San Diego Padres yesterday. This was another display of how good the Giants’ offense can be. With that being said, we’ll take the Giants -165 here.
