It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Sunday’s schedule.
Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals – 1:35 PM ET
Kicking off our MLB best of the day is the Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals. The Braves, with a record of 56-37, are 3-0 in the series right now. Today is the final game of the series and the Braves are looking to sweep the Nationals. To help this happen, the 4-2 Spencer Strider will get the start on the mound. Strider has an ERA of 2.56 over the course of 70.1 innings.
The Washington Nationals have yet to name a starter for today’s game. Frankly, the way that they’ve been playing, it doesn’t much matter. Although they have a team batting average of .248, the Nationals haven’t been able to put together a win. Tonight, the best bet is the Braves on the road, that much is certain.
Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins – 2:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox are up 2-1 in their series against the Twins. With a record of 45-46, the White Sox have a chance to even up their record tonight. On the mound for Chicago is Dylan Cease, the 8-4 RHP with an ERA of 2.30. It’s also important to note that the White Sox have a team batting average of .255.
The Minnesota Twins are in a tough spot here, especially with Cease on the mound. Minnesota will send out Chris Archer, who has struggled this season. Archer has a 2-3 record over the course of 61.1 innings pitched. He has an ERA of 3.08 over this time span, so he’s not too awful. Still, the White Sox pose the bigger threat here, so we’ll take Chicago tonight.
Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 2:15 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds are currently down 0-2 in this series. This is kind of shocking to us considering how they played against the New York Yankees. Tonight, the Reds will send out Graham Ashcraft one of their best pitchers. Ashcraft has a 4-2 record as a starter with an ERA of 4.45 this season.
The St. Louis Cardinals are 50-44 this season with a 29-20 record at home. They’ll start Steven Matz tonight who is 3-3 as a starter with a 6.03 ERA. Even with his poor ERA, Matz should be able to lead the Cardinals to a win tonight. They’re a better batting team and one of the best at home as well. Take the Cardinals at home -170.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Colorado Rockies – 3:10 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates have a 38-54 record this season and are 18-31 on the road. Over their last five games, the Pirates have lost five of them, all of which were on the road. They’re down 0-2 in their series against the Rockies with today being the final game. They’ve yet to decide a pitcher for this one but it might not matter at this point.
The Colorado Rockies have won five games in a row improving to a 43-49 record. Although they’re under .500 overall, they have a 28-22 record at home. On the mound for the Rockies tonight is Austin Gomber, who has a 5-7 starting record. Gomber might not have the best record but the Rockies batters will back him up. The best bet here is the Rockies at home.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. San Francisco Giants – 4:05 PM ET
With only one game left in this series, the Brewers are down 1-2 at the moment. Beating the Giants at home is no easy feat, even for the first-place team in the NL Central. The 2-1 Jason Alexander will get the nod for the Brewers tonight. Alexander has an ERA of 4.73 over the course of 40 innings.
The San Francisco Giants will send out the 8-3 Logan Webb to start the game. Webb not only has an impressive record but an ERA of 2.82 as well. Over their last five games, the Giants have won four of them. With Webb on the mound, the Giants also have the best chance of winning this one at -178.
