It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Wednesday’s schedule.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds – 12:35 PM ET
Beginning our day is an early morning game between the Brewers and the Reds. After losing the first game 10-5, the Brewers bounced back in Game 2 and won 5-4. Tonight, they’ll send Adrian Houser to the mound who has a record of 3-2. The real key to this game is the Brewers’ batting average versus the Reds.
Cincinnati will send out a pitcher that has started five games and lost all five of them. This season, Vladimir Gutierrez is 0-5, with an ERA of 8.86 in 21.1 innings pitched. With Gutierrez on the mound, it’s no shock that the Reds are -175 here. We’ll take the Milwaukee Brewers to win this one -200.
Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants – 3:45 PM ET
Jumping forward in the day there’s a spectacular game between the Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants. The Rockies, currently 16-14, are following closely behind the Giants in the NL West. At the moment, the Rockies rank fifth, while the Giants rank third but this series can change that. The Rockies will send the 3-0 Chad Kuhl out to the mound today.
The Giants and the Rockies are very similar, even in terms of team batting average. The Rockies have a slight edge at .259, but the Giants aren’t far behind at .244. San Francisco needs to get off to a fast start here. If they can’t, they could find themselves trying to play catch up. Still, the Rockies are 5-9 on the road, so we’ll take the home team to win here.
Chicago Cubs vs. San Diego Padres – 4:10 PM ET
On the surface, this game might look like an easy win for the Padres. However, when you look at the first game of the series, you’ll see the Padres lost 6-0. The Cubs have won just one of their last five games. To be fair, in three of those five games they were playing the Los Angeles Dodgers. No starting pitcher has been named for the team yet.
The Padres, however, have named the 2-2 Nick Martinez as their starting pitcher. Martinez has an ERA of 3.38 in 26.2 innings pitched. With Martinez on the mound, the Padres have a strong chance of winning this game. The Cubs edge them out in terms of batting, but the Padres at home are a better choice.
Boston Red Sox vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:20 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox are 11-19 to start the season, not quite the beginning they were looking for. After losing five games in a row, they finally notched a win over the Atlanta Braves. They’ll face the Braves again tonight and hope to continue this winning streak. The 1-1 Nathan Eovaldi is the pitcher tasked with stopping the Braves batters.
On the opposite side is the 3-1 Ian Anderson of the Atlanta Braves. Anderson has an ERA of 4.01 over the course of 24.2 innings pitched. With Boston having a slight edge on them in terms of batting, the Braves will have to make up for it. Having Anderson on the mound is a great way to combat the Red Sox batters.
Baltimore Orioles vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 7:45 PM ET
The final game we’ll cover today is the Orioles versus the Cardinals. Baltimore is 13-17 with a record of 4-10 on the road. Their inability to win games while traveling is continuing to be a problem for them. It doesn’t help that they’re facing the Cardinals who have a record of 16-13 and are 7-6 at home.
The Orioles will send Spenser Watkins to the mound in his first start this season. Battling him on the other side is the 2-1 Miles Mikolas, one of the Cardinals best pitchers. St. Louis also has a slightly better batting average than the Orioles at .238. Look for the Cardinals to come away with a win at home tonight.
