It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Thursday’s schedule.
Baltimore Orioles vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 1:15 PM ET
The first game of our best bets of the day is between the Orioles and Cardinals. Baltimore is 13-18 and has won three of their last five games. However, their most recent loss was yesterday to the Cardinals who beat them 10-1. To bounce back today, the Orioles will need much better pitching. They have yet to decide their starting pitcher for today’s game.
For the St. Louis Cardinals, the 1-2 Jordan Hicks will get the start. Hicks has pitched 16.2 innings with 18 strikeouts. His ERA is an impressive 3.78 and the team has a strong batting average as well. With the momentum of a huge win on their side, we’ll take the Cardinals to win tonight.
Houston Astros vs. Minnesota Twins – 3:30 PM ET
The Houston Astros have a very impressive 19-11 record this season. On the road, they’ve gone 10-7 and have won five of their last five games. Their most recent win was over the Minnesota Twins, who they beat 5-0. The 2-1 Luis Garcia will get the nod to start the game tonight. Garcia has an ERA of 3.45 and is facing one of the Twins best pitchers.
The 2-0 Josh Winder will be the starter for the Twins tonight. Winder has pitched 22.1 innings, throwing 20 strikeouts with an ERA of 1.61. If there’s anyone that can bring the Twins a win tonight it’s Winder. Going against the bats of the Astros is going to be tough though. As a team, the Astros have hit 36 home runs this season.
Cincinnati Reds vs. Pittsburgh Pirates – 6:35 PM ET
The Reds pulled off an impressive win over the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday. Their 14-11 win marked their second win of the series as well. After winning a series over the Brewers, they now travel to Pittsburgh to face the Pirates. Connor Overton in his first start of the season will have to face a team that beat the Dodgers.
The Pirates are coming off of a 5-3 win and a series win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their team batting average is .238 with an on-base percentage of .307. They’ve got better batting than the Reds, but pitching could be a problem. JT Brubaker will get the start tonight and Brubaker is 0-2 this season.
Kansas City Royals vs. Texas Rangers – 8:05 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals are 10-18 with a 4-9 record on the road. The good news is they’re facing a team with a similar record tonight. This is the final game of the series and it’s currently tied at one game each. The Royals claimed the most recent win with an 8-2 victory yesterday. Jonathan Heasley will take the mound for the Royals today.
The Texas Rangers are 12-17 and will start Taylor Hearn tonight. Hearn is 1-2 this season, pitching 20.2 innings and earning an ERA of 6.53. The batters for each of these teams are struggling, so it’ll come down to pitching. With such a poor ERA, we think the Royals will win this one tonight.
New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox – 8:10 PM ET
Our final game of the day is between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. The Yankees, 22-8 this season, were the first team to 20 wins in the American League. Led tonight by Luis Gil, the Yankees will put their batters to the test against Chicago. New York has won four of its last five games, averaging 3.2 runs per game.
The White Sox will have their hands full tonight with the Yankees. New York has a deep bullpen, so that’s something to keep in mind as well. Chicago will start the 2-2 Vince Velasquez, who has an ERA of 3.97. Over 22.2 innings, Velasquez has thrown 21 strikeouts and allowed 22 hits. We’ll go with the Yankees to win this game.
