MLB Best Bets for May 17, 2022

It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Tuesday’s schedule.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets – 3:10 PM ETcardinals vs mets baseball betting

Our best MLB bets of the day begin with the St. Louis Cardinals versus the New York Mets. The Cardinals, 19-15 this season, are coming off a 15-6 win over the San Francisco Giants. St. Louis is currently second in the NL Central, with hopes to catch up to Milwaukee. To do that, they’ll need to claim a win over the best team in the NL East.

With a record of 23-13, the New York Mets are in control of the NL East. However, over their last five games, the Mets have only won two. Their recent decline isn’t necessarily a cause for concern, however. Today, they’re at home versus the Cardinals, where they’re 10-7 this year. We think the Mets will get back on track and claim a win today.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Cleveland Guardians – 6:10 PM ETreds vs guardians baseball betting

Jumping ahead a bit, the Cincinnati Reds will face the Cleveland Guardians. Cincinnati has had a tough start to the year, currently 9-26. However, we will say that they’ve won three of their last five games. One of these wins was a 14-11 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Tonight, however, they face one of the best hitting teams in Major League Baseball.

The Cleveland Guardians as a team bat .251, ranking third overall in MLB. With such strong hitters, the Guardians already have an advantage. However, in terms of pitching, the Guardians might be in trouble. Getting the start on the mound is the 1-3 Zach Plesac who has an ERA of 4.68. We’ll take the Reds to win this game on the road +145.

Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox – 7:10 PM ETastros vs red sox baseball betting

The first game of this series went to the Boston Red Sox. The Astros had a tough time limiting runs, allowing six last night. Tonight, they’ll send the 2-1 Jose Urquidy out to the mound in hopes to remedy this issue. Urquidy has an ERA of 4.40 over the course of 28.2 innings pitched.

The Boston Red Sox are sending out the 1-1 Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi has an ERA of 3.15 over 40 innings pitched. Again, the Red Sox has the advantage in terms of pitching. They also have an edge when it comes to batting with a team average of .235. Although not very far in front of the Astros, the Red Sox still has a slight edge here.

Atlanta Braves vs. Milwaukee Brewers – 7:40 PM ETbraves vs brewers baseball betting

The Atlanta Braves are hoping to bounce back from their loss against the Brewers yesterday. Although only a 1-0 loss, sometimes the close ones can hurt the most. The starting pitcher for the Braves is Tucker Davidson, making his first start of the season. Davidson has an ERA of 16.88, needless to say, the Braves are in trouble.

The Brewers batters are likely chomping at the bit to hit the plate today. As a team, Milwaukee has a batting average of .234 and an on-base percentage of .310. Milwaukee has won their last two games, and we expect them to add a third tonight. The 3-3 Adrian Houser will get the start and be tasked with stopping the Braves batters. We’ll take the Milwaukee Brewers -115 tonight.

San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies – 8:40 PM ETgiants vs rockies baseball betting

Our final game of the day is between the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies. Each of these teams is a member of the NL West. The Giants are currently ranked third in the NL West with a record of 21-14. The first game of this series went to the Giants, who won 7-6. Both teams are starting one of their best pitchers with the Giants sending out the 2-1 Alex Cobb.

On the opposite side, the Rockies will start Chad Kuhl, who has a 3-1 record this season. Kuhl has an ERA of 2.88 over 34.1 innings pitched. The Rockies batters are also among the best in MLB, with a team batting average of .261. Look for the Rockies to bounce back in the second game of this series.
