It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Monday’s schedule.
San Diego Padres vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 2:15 PM ET
The first game to kick off our MLB best bets of the day is the Padres versus the Cardinals. The Padres, currently with a record of 30-17, are coming off of a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now, they’ll have to head to St. Louis to face the 26-21 Cardinals. On the mound for the Padres today is the 2-2 Nick Martinez, who has an ERA of 3.86 this season.
The St. Louis Cardinals will start the 0-1 Packy Naughton today. Naughton has only 9.1 innings under his belt and has an ERA of 2.89 during that time. He’ll have a tough task today as he faces the batters of the Padres. San Diego’s batters, as a team, have a batting average of .233. The Cardinals, however, have a great team batting average of .252, so we’ll take them -115.
San Francisco Giants vs. Philadelphia Phillies – 4:05 PM ET
Moving later into the afternoon we’ll see the Giants face the Phillies. Through their last five games, the Giants have won three of them. Tonight, they’ll attempt to add another win under their belt by starting Logan Webb on the mound. Webb has an impressive record of 5-1 and an ERA of 3.54.
The Phillies will look to start the 3-2 Kyle Gibson on the mound tonight. Webb has an advantage over Gibson in terms of wins and ERA. Each of these teams is nearly even when it comes to batting average. The Giants have a team batting average of .249 while the Phillies have a .246. Because they’re so evenly matched, we’ll take the team with better pitching San Francisco -115.
Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians – 6:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals have a record of 16-30 this season. Although their record is pretty bad, the Guardians aren’t far in front of them. The Royals are coming off of a 7-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins. However, in the game prior to that, they beat the Twins 7-3. On the mound for Kansas City is the 0-2 Jonathan Heasley, who has an ERA of 4.73.
The Guardians aren’t starting someone with a much better record on the mound tonight. Zach Plesac gets the nod tonight for the Guardians with a record of 1-4 this season. Although Heasley’s ERA is bad, it’s not quite as bad as Plesac’s 5.40. Between these two, the Guardians have an edge in batting. With that being said, we’ll take the Guardians -160.
Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets – 7:10 PM ET
The Washington Nationals have a rough record of 18-31 this season. Although their record at the moment isn’t promising, they’ve won four of their last five games. Their most recent game was a 6-5 win over the Colorado Rockies. If they were able to beat the Rockies 3-1 in the series, they have a chance against the Mets.
On the mound for the Nationals is Erick Fedde, who has a 3-3 record this season. Unfortunately for Fedde, he’ll be facing some of MLB’s best batters. The Mets have a team batting average of 261 and have hit 42 home runs this season. Getting the start for the Mets tonight is David Peterson, Peterson is 2-0 as a starter. The Mets are a tough team to beat, so we’ll take them.
Atlanta Braves vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – 8:10 PM ET
Although this isn’t an inter-division game, it should be an entertaining one. The Atlanta Braves (23-25) and the Arizona Diamondbacks (23-26) have very similar records. The Braves have won three of their last five games and will start Spencer Strider on the mound. Strider has a record of 1-1 as a starter but an impressive ERA of 2.22.
Speaking of impressive, Zac Gallen will get the start for the Diamondbacks today. Gallen has a record of 3-0 this season with the same 2.22 ERA as Strider. Where the Diamondbacks fall behind is in batting, with a team batting average of .217. Still, we think Gallen will lead the Diamondbacks to an upset win today. We’ll take Arizona +100 at home tonight.
