MLB Best Bets for October 13, 2022

It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the MLB playoff games on Thursday’s schedule.

Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros – 3:37 PM ET

Although there aren’t many games tonight, there are games definitely worth watching. The Seattle Mariners versus the Houston Astros is definitely one of them. The Mariners, down 0-1 in this series, find themselves in a bit of a tough scenario. One more loss puts them on the brink of elimination. However, beating the Houston Astros isn’t a very easy thing to do.

The last time these two played, the Mariners lost the game 8-7. We don’t necessarily expect this game to reach that amount of runs again though. Getting the start on the mound for the Mariners is Luis Castillo. Castillo posted a record of 8-6 with a 2.99 ERA during the regular season. He’ll have his hands full with the batters of the Houston Astros tonight.

Of all the teams in the American League, the Houston Astros show the most promise. They’re not only a great batting team but they have a few strong pitchers as well. One of these pitchers is Framber Valdez, who will get the start tonight. Valdez posted an ERA of 2.82 with a 17-6 record during the regular season. So, who’s the best pick in this game?

Of these two teams, we’ll go with the Houston Astros, who are also playing at home. They have a 55-26 record at home and they’re starting the better pitcher. We’ll take the under in this game, however, since each team is starting a strong pitcher.

Cleveland Guardians vs. New York Yankees – 7:37 PM ET

The next game to be played shortly after is the Cleveland Guardians versus the New York Yankees. The Guardians finished the regular season with a record of 92-70. Unfortunately for them, they started this series with a loss to the Yankees. One more loss and they’ll be close to being knocked out of the postseason. So, what can they do to get a win tonight?

The first thing they’ll need is a lot of help from starting pitcher Shane Bieber. Bieber had a record of 13-8 during the regular season with a 2.88 ERA. With him on the mound, the Guardians definitely have a chance to win this game. Cleveland’s batters are hitting .254, which is far better than the Yankees average. Keep that in mind when placing your pick on this game.

The New York Yankees are sending out Nestor Cortes, who had a record of 12-4 during the regular season. His ERA of 2.44 is very impressive considering the Yankees faced some tough teams this year. Now, Cortes faces another test, the Guardians batters. If he can get off to a good start, the Yankees could pull this off. However, we think it’s better to go with the upset.
This is going to be a tough game but we’ll go with the Cleveland Guardians +115 over the New York Yankees in this game. Cleveland has the better overall batters and they can’t afford a loss in Game 2.
