Associated Press AP Poll Top 25 Update

The newly minted AP Top 25 poll is now out for men’s college basketball. This week, there was not much movement compared to previous weeks, but we still saw some shake-up in the poll.

Below we take a look at the movers and the teams who fell. There were no new teams who entered into the Top 25 this week.

Below we take a look at the Top 10 and who could make a move next week.

What Other Notable Moves Were Made This Week?

One of the most significant drops that we saw this week was Seton Hall suffering two big losses and sliding all the way down to #24 from #15. It was a nine-slot slide and was a big one for them after creating so much momentum early in the season.

The losses they had were not bad losses by any means, as they lost to Providence and Villanova. Their schedule doesn’t get any easier as they still have to go through some outstanding Big East teams.

Providence was the team that made the biggest jump in the poll as they moved from #21 to #16 to tie with Kentucky for that spot. Alabama jumped up four spots to #15 from #19.

LSU fell five spots to #19, and Tennessee slid four spots to #18 on the Top 25. Those were the biggest movers in an otherwise very quiet new Top 25.

There will be more movement as we continue into January, as many ranked matchups are coming up in the next few weeks. As we get further into conference play, I expect to see more movement as teams play each other more. Conference play is always a challenging task for everyone in each conference around the country.
