New Orleans Pelicans Travel to Memphis to Face the Grizzlies
There’s no denying that the Pelicans have earned a spot in the NBA playoffs. However, on Saturday, they’ll be facing a team that they could face in the first round. They’ll take on the Memphis Grizzlies, who could be resting starters.
However, the most important thing for the Pelicans is that they find a way to slow down the offense. If they can do that, they can win this.
The Memphis Grizzlies don’t plan on just handing this game over to the Pelicans. Each of these teams is in the Southwest Division; one already locked up by the Grizzlies. To prove their point, they can get a third win over the Pelicans.
This would close their season series at 3-1 in favor of the Memphis Grizzlies. Our question is, which team will be the best against the spread here?
Game Preview: New Orleans Pelicans at Memphis Grizzlies April 9
The Pelicans recently took a 119-100 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Although it doesn’t hurt them much in terms of standings, it could hurt morale. Leading into the playoffs, you want to have a ton of momentum.
On Saturday, the Pelicans can regain some of that momentum by securing a win over the Grizzlies. They’ll have to rely on their 13th ranked defense to do it.
The Grizzlies have one of the best offenses in the NBA, usually led by Ja Morant. However, Morant didn’t play in the Grizzlies’ recent game against the Suns.
We’ll also note that in their 122-114 win over the Suns, Phoenix was playing its starters. Since Memphis pulled off a win over the Phoenix Suns without Morant, we like their chances here. Time to make our pick.
New Orleans Pelicans at Memphis Grizzlies Betting Prediction
We mentioned already that the Grizzlies have two straight wins over the Pelicans in their last three games. Although they didn’t sweep New Orleans, they can avoid a tie with another win here.
At home, the Grizzlies are one of the best teams in the NBA, with a record of 29-10. The last time they played the Pelicans, they were at home and displayed their talented offense.
The Memphis Grizzlies came into the game as eight-point favorites and won 132-111. They easily covered the spread, and we expect them to do so again in this game.
Memphis has an incredible 51-27 record against the spread, going 26-13 ATS at home. Look for Memphis to use its offense again to display its dominance. You could also see Ja Morant return in this one.
Anytime we bet on totals in a Memphis Grizzlies game, we recommend taking the over. Memphis has gone 39-35-4 against the total this season. In two of their last three games against the Pelicans, the total has gone over as well.
