With the NHL coming off of its break in action due to a recent surge of positive COVID tests, every team has had the chance to rest their players and refocus on winning games. Today, we are going to highlight five matchups for later this week and discuss where we should be betting and why.  

The matchup we are looking at is St. Louis Blues vs Minnesota Wild.

St. Louis Blues Travel to Minnesota to Face the Wild

The St Louis Blues and the Minnesota Wild are going to square off in the Winter Classic on New Year’s Day at Target Field in Minnesota. Jordan Binnington has been allowing 2.87 goals per game this season while inside of the net, while Cam Talbot has been giving up 2.83 goals per game, so that seems to be a wash.

The offenses are going to be the difference as St. Louis is scoring 3.35 goals per game while Minnesota is averaging 3.63 goals per game. These teams have not faced off against each other, but the defense on the power play is not great at killing it. Minnesota had the over hit in 19 of 30 games, while St Louis had the over hit in 14 of 29 games.

All in all, go with the over to hit as it seems to be the better chance of hitting.
