Week 15 Recap: Patriots Leaving Vegas with an L

NFL Week 15 Recap

We are seeing many teams getting ready for the playoffs as we head into the final weeks of the NFL regular season. Some teams are starting to take the lead, while others fall into the background.

This next week, there are many games that are up in the air. You never know what will happen heading into each game. Many times, the underdogs can surprise you and come out ahead.

It feels like we’ve said this at least three other times this season, but Week 15 really was the craziest week of the year. Let’s take a look at some of the best games this past week.

Leaving Las Vegas With an L (24-30 Raiders)

The Stanford Band and Leon Lett, move over. You need to pull up a chair for Jakobi Meyers, the newest member of the football bonehead round table.

The Raiders had once again blown a two-touchdown halftime lead, and the Patriots were running one last play in regulation before the game moved to overtime. The call was an innocuous draw play to Rhamondre Stevenson. But a hole opened up, and as the clock expired and he got onto the Raider’s side of the field, he tossed the ball to Meyers.

This was a tied game, so the smartest and best play at that point would have been to go to the ground. Instead, Meyers threw the ball wildly backward in the hopes that someone would catch it and run for a touchdown. That is exactly what happened… for the Raiders. The ball went right to Chandler Jones, and he took it 48 yards the other way for a game-winning touchdown for Las Vegas.

The Patriots went from covering the point spread to losing. Their playoff hopes also took a hit, as New England is now outside of the playoff picture and looking in. And the improbable win for Las Vegas keeps their playoff hopes alive, even if they remain a longshot.

For Jakobi Meyers, we might recommend he avoid local talk radio this week back in Boston.
