Chargers vs. Chiefs Week 7 Outlook 

The Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs are set to face off in a Week 7 NFL showdown on Sunday, October 22nd. In the end, they will kick off at Arrowhead Stadium at 2:25 p.m. ET. All in all, the Chiefs are the defending AFC champions and are currently 5-1, while the Chargers are 2-3. Ultimately, this game is sure to be a high-powered affair, as both teams feature explosive offenses led by dynamic quarterbacks.

Chargers Offense

The Chargers quarterback, Justin Herbert, is one of the most exciting young players in the NFL. In addition, Herbert is in his third season and is already a Pro Bowler. Furthermore, he has a strong arm and is very accurate with his throws. Herbert also has a knack for making big plays, both with his arm and his legs.

In the end, Herbert is surrounded by a talented group of weapons. Some players include wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, tight end Gerald Everett, and running back Austin Ekeler. Allen is one of the best route runners in the league and is a sure-handed target. Williams is a big-play threat with his speed and athleticism. Everett is a versatile tight end who can catch passes and block. Ekeler is one of the most elusive running backs in the NFL and is also a threat in the passing game.

Chiefs Offense

Ultimately, the Chiefs offense is led by Kansas City’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is widely regarded as the best player in the NFL. Meanwhile, Mahomes is a two-time NFL MVP and a Super Bowl champion. Additionally, he has a cannon for an arm and is incredibly mobile. Lastly, Mahomes also has a knack for making plays off-script.

In the end, Mahomes is surrounded by a star-studded cast of offensive weapons, including tight end Travis Kelce, and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Kelce is one of the best tight ends in NFL history. Finally, Edwards-Helaire is a shifty running back who is also a threat in the passing game.

Chargers and Chiefs Defense

Chargers’ Defense 

The Chargers’ defense has been a bit of a disappointment this season. Furthermore, they are ranked 24th in the NFL in points allowed and 28th in total yards allowed. However, the Chargers do have some talented players on defense. 

Chiefs’ Defense

The Chiefs’ defense has also been a bit of a mixed bag this season. They are ranked 17th in the NFL in points allowed and 19th in total yards allowed. However, the Chiefs do have some playmakers on defense, including defensive tackle Chris Jones, linebacker Nick Bolton, and safety Tyrann Mathieu.

The Chargers special teams unit is led by kicker Cameron Dicker and punter Dustin Hopkins. Dicker has been perfect on field goals this season, while Hopkins is averaging 45.2 yards per punt.

The Chiefs special teams unit is led by kicker Harrison Butker and punter Tommy Townsend. Butker is one of the best kickers in the NFL and is averaging 49.0 yards per field goal. Townsend is averaging 45.6 yards per punt.

Chargers vs. Chiefs Prediction

In the end, this game is expected to be a high-scoring affair, as both teams feature explosive offenses. However, the Chiefs are the better team on paper and have the home-field advantage. Therefore, I predict the Chiefs will win this game 34-27.
