The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders will face off in Week 8 of the 2023 NFL season on Sunday, October 29. They will kick off at 1:00 PM EST at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland. In the end, both teams are coming off different results in Week 7. The Eagles are entering after a win over the Miami Dolphins, and the Commanders are coming off a loss to the New York Giants.

Eagles Stay Strong 

All in all, the Eagles have been one of the best teams in the NFL so far this season, with a record of 7-0. They have a high-powered offense led by Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and a strong defense led by Fletcher Cox and Darius Slay.

Hurts has taken a big step forward in his third season as the Eagles’ starting quarterback. He has thrown for 1,987 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions in seven games. He has also rushed for 267 yards and three touchdowns.

Additionally, running back Miles Sanders has also been a key part of the Eagles’ offense. Sanders has rushed for 581 yards and four touchdowns in seven games. He is one of the most explosive running backs in the league, and he will be a key factor in the Eagles’ success against the Commanders.

In addition, wide receiver A.J. Brown has been Hurts’ favorite target this season. All in all, Brown has 453 receiving yards and five touchdowns in seven games. At the end of the day, he is a deep threat who can stretch the field for the Eagles.

Commanders Have Ups and Downs 

The Commanders have had a more up-and-down season so far, with a record of 3-4. They have a decent offense led by Commander’s quarterback Sam Howell. Yet, their defense has been inconsistent.

Furthermore, running back Antonio Gibson has been the Commanders’ primary running back this season. Gibson has rushed for 423 yards and two touchdowns in seven games. He is a big and powerful running back who can pound the ball between the tackles or break off a big run.

Lastly, wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been Wentz’s favorite target this season. McLaurin has 483 receiving yards and four touchdowns in seven games. He is a dynamic playmaker who can make big plays downfield.

Rivals Go Head-to-Head

The Eagles and Commanders have a long and storied rivalry dating back to 1933. The Eagles lead the all-time series 80-78-2. However, the Commanders have won the last two meetings. including a 34-31 victory in overtime in Week 4 of this season.

Eagles Offense & Defense 

Overall, the Eagle’s offense is one of the best in the NFL, and it will need to be at its best to slow down the Commanders’ defense. Furthermore, the Eagles will need to establish a running game and protect Jalen Hurts. The Eagle’s defense has been strong this season, but it will need to be at its best to stop Carson Wentz and the Commanders’ offense. Overall, the Eagles will need to pressure Howell and force him into mistakes.

Commander’s Offense & Defense 

The Commander’s offense has been inconsistent this season, but it is capable of putting up big points. The Commanders will also need to establish a running game and protect Carson Wentz. On the other hand, the Commander’s defense has been somewhat inconsistent this season, but it will need to be at its best to stop the Eagles’ offense. In the end, the Commanders will need to pressure Jalen Hurts and force him into mistakes.

Eagles vs Commanders Game Prediction

All in all, the Eagles are the better team on paper, and they have the advantage of coming off a win. However, the Commanders are a dangerous team, especially when they are playing at home. Therefore, I predict the Eagles will win a close game, 27-24.
