The Vols started their season against the UT Martin Skyhawks. The Skyhawks are a part of the Ohio Valley Conference, a much smaller conference than the SEC. Most college teams will play one or two of these games to open up their season, just to make sure their guys are prepped and ready to go before moving on to conference play.

The Vols made quick work of the Skyhawks, defeating them 90-62. Junior Santiago Vescovi and freshman Kennedy Chandler each had 20 points.

Vescovi was six for 11 from the three-point line and added two free throws as well. Chandler was seven for ten from the field and went four for four from behind the three-point line.

Following the Skyhawks, the Vols took on East Tennessee State University. This was another lower-tier team for the Vols to make sure everyone was squared away with the things they had been working on. While the Vols were expected to win, ETSU has sophomore Jordan King, who has played very well in his time with them.

The Vols made quick work of the Buccaneers by a score of 94-62. Junior Olivier Nkamhoua led the team in scoring with 23 points. He went nine for 14 from the field and made three out of four of his free throws while adding eight rebounds.

The freshman standout Kennedy Chandler had another great night. He scored 16 points on six of nine shooting and added six assists.
