Texas AM vs Alabama Upset

CFB Big Upset of the Week Texas A&M vs Alabama

David “Texas A&M” takes down Goliath “Alabama”

I think everyone knows what our upset of the week is this week. Any time Bama loses, it’s headline news. Especially when it’s against a team like unranked Texas A&M. No offense to the Aggies, but I don’t think many people gave them much of a chance. Especially coming off of a loss at home to Mississippi State.

Believe it or not, A&M was in control for most of this game. They took a 31-27 lead into the fourth quarter, but Bama wasn’t dead yet. They scored 11 unanswered points to take a 38-31 lead with five minutes left in the game. At this point, everyone was probably thinking Bama was going to pull it out and that A&M had gotten all of our hopes up for nothing. But Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies didn’t hear no bell.

They marched right down the field in six plays, led by the arm of QB Zach Calzada, and answered with a touchdown of their own. Tie ball game with three minutes left. Now it’s up to the Aggie defense, who ranked 53 in the country going into the game. They proceed to play arguably their best three plays of the season, holding Bama to just 1 yard and a three and out. Aggies ball with two minutes left.

Calzada led another march to the Tide’s 12 with just two seconds left. It was all up to kicker Seth Small. With his wife and family looking on, Small booted the most important kick of his life through the uprights as time expired. The fans stormed the field, and Alabama was sent back to Tuscaloosa with their first loss since 2019.

This was also the first time Nick Saban lost to a former assistant. EVER. Saban was 24-0 against former employees until Saturday night. This was also a huge game for Calzada. A few weeks ago, he was a backup who got crushed on Twitter when he came in relief of injured Haynes King. Now he is one of the few quarterbacks to say he torched Alabama. He was 21-of-31 and threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns.

Congrats to Calzada, Coach Fisher and all the Aggie fans. This was truly a shocking upset.
