It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Thursday’s schedule.

Texas Rangers vs. Miami Marlins – 1:10 PM ET

The Texas Rangers find themselves facing the 43-48 Miami Marlins tonight. With a record of 41-49 themselves, the Rangers are third in the AL West. On the mound tonight is Jon Gray, who has a 6-4 starting record this season. Where the Rangers exceed over the Marlins, however, is at the plate. The Rangers have a batting average of .239 compared to the Marlins’ .237.

The Miami Marlins are 22-22 at home this season but are well under .500 overall. In order to get there they’ll need to string together a few wins. Their last three games ended in losses to the Phillies before the All-Star break. Getting the start for Miami is Pablo Lopez, who is 6-4 with an ERA of 2.86. We’ll go with the home team to win this one at -115.

Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland Athletics Game 1 – 3:37 PM ET

The Detroit Tigers have had a tough season, boasting a record of 37-55. They do, however, have five more wins than the Athletics do. Over their last four games, the Detroit Tigers have lost four in a row. Three out of the four losses were to the Cleveland Guardians. Getting the start tonight is the 6-8 Tarik Skubal. Skubal has an ERA of 4.11 over 100.2 innings pitched.

The Athletics, although still well under .500, have won three of their last five. Two of these wins were against the Houston Astros, one of the best teams in the league. Taking the mound for them tonight is Zach Logue, who is 3-4 as a starter this season. The biggest problem for the Athletics is at the plate where they have a .211 batting average. We’ll go with the Tigers here.

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros – 6:40 PM ET

This will actually be the second game of the day between these two. The first game will occur at 1:10 PM ET and this one will take place immediately after. The New York Yankees went into the All-Star break with a 64-28 record. As one of the best teams in the league, they had quite a few players participating in the All-Star action. This could lead to them being slightly sluggish today.

The Yankees have yet to name a pitcher for this one and it could be a game-time decision. However, the Astros have announced that the 7-5 Luis Garcia will get the nod for them. Garcia’s record and 3.65 ERA should do well against the Yankees batters. Because of this, we’ll take the Astros in Game 2 of today’s doubleheader.

Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland Athletics Game 2 – 7:07 PM ET

Another doubleheader is the Detroit Tigers versus the Oakland Athletics. The Tigers have revealed in this one that the 1-1 Garrett Hill will get the start tonight. Hill’s record might be okay but his ERA of 5.73 is rather worrisome. The Tigers had the edge in the first game but the Athletics have a significant edge here.

As always, the batting for the Athletics is a concern. This is especially true considering the Tigers are batting a .229 which is much better than .211. However, the .229 batting average of Detroit is still awful. Frankie Montas (3-9) will get the start on the mound for Oakland. His record might not be great but he has an ERA of 3.26. We’ll go with the Athletics in Game 2.

San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers – 10:00 PM ET

Aside from the games between the Yankees and Astros, this should be the most entertaining. On one side you have the San Francisco Giants (48-43). On the other, you’ve got the leaders in the NL West, the Los Angeles Dodgers (60-30). On the mound for the Giants is Carlos Rodon (8-5) who could give the Giants an edge over the Dodgers.

Rodon has an ERA of 2.66 this season, one of the best in Major League Baseball. The Dodgers are starting Mitch White, who has struggled this season. White has a record of 1-2 as a starter with an ERA of 4.20. The Dodgers have the edge in batting but we’ll actually go with the Giants +130 in this one.
