MLB Best Bets for July 22, 2022

It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Friday’s schedule.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds – 6:40 PM ETcardinals vs reds baseball betting

The best bets of the day kick off with the St. Louis Cardinals facing the Cincinnati Reds. The Cardinals, with a record of 50-44 have won three of their last five games. With the 6-7 Adam Wainwright on the mound, the Cardinals could be in a bit of trouble. Wainwright has an ERA of 3.00 which is great but he’s given up 105 hits in just 111 innings.

The Cincinnati Reds are 34-57, one of the worst records in MLB. However, they’ve been known to take out some spectacular teams, including the New York Yankees. Graham Ashcraft, who is 4-2, will get the start for the Reds today. Ashcraft has an ERA of 4.45 and has thrown 32 strikeouts in 54.2 innings. This is a close one but we’ll take the St. Louis Cardinals -155.

Miami Marlins vs. Pittsburgh Pirates – 7:05 PM ETmarlins vs pirates baseball betting

The Miami Marlins head into this series with a 43-49 record, ranking fourth in the NL East. They’ve lost four games in a row and are in desperate need of a win. Tasked with this responsibility at the plate is the 1-3 Braxton Garrett. Garrett may have an under .500 record but he’s got an ERA of 3.70. The Marlins also have an edge in terms of batting as well.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost four of their last five games as well. The only difference between them and the Marlins is that the Pirates are coming off of a win. They’ve yet to name their pitcher tonight but it doesn’t much matter. With a team batting average of .222, the Pirates aren’t in good shape to win this one. We’ll go with Garrett and the Marlins tonight.

San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets – 7:10 PM ETpadres vs mets baseball betting

The San Diego Padres face off against the New York Mets tonight. Each of these teams are considered to be one of the best in Major League Baseball. The Padres, with a record of 52-42, have lost three of their last five games. With Yu Darvish on the mound, San Diego looks to get back on the winning track. Darvish is 8-4 this season with an ERA of 3.41.

Facing off against Darvish as the SP for the New York Mets is Max Scherzer, who is 6-1. There’s no denying who has the better pitching in this one with Scherzer’s 2.22 ERA. The main thing to pay attention to here is the batters. As a team, the Mets are batting .252 this season, one of the best in the league. We’ll take the Mets at -190 to win this one tonight.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:20 PM ETangels vs braves baseball betting

The Los Angeles Angels will start Shohei Ohtani (9-4) on the mound tonight. He’s got a strong record this season and a 2.38 ERA to back it up as well. The Angels have had a rough year with a record of 39-53 putting them at fourth in the AL West. They’ve lost four of their last five games and the Braves won’t be an easy team to beat.

The Atlanta Braves have a record of 56-38 and are 31-20 at home this season. The 5-4 Charlie Morton will get the start for Atlanta today. Morton has an ERA of 4.45 this season, which doesn’t give us much confidence in him. However, we do have confidence in the bats of the Braves who are hitting .248. We’ll go with the Atlanta Braves -155 to win tonight’s game.

Colorado Rockies vs. Milwaukee Brewers – 8:10 PM ETrockies vs brewers baseball betting

The final game we’re going to take a look at is the Colorado Rockies at the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rockies have the best batting team in the league with a batting average of .262. However, on the mound tonight is Antonio Senzatela, who is 3-5 with a 4.95 ERA. Going against the Brewers with Senzatela on the mound isn’t a good sign for Colorado.

The Milwaukee Brewers are no slouch when it comes to batting. They have an on-base percentage of .314 this season and a .407 slugging percentage. More importantly, they’ll be starting the 7-4 Corbin Burnes tonight. Burnes has an ERA of 2.14 and has thrown 144 strikeouts in 113.2 innings. We’ll take the Brewers -285 in this one.
