It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Sunday’s schedule.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Atlanta Braves – 1:35 PM ET
Kicking off our best bets of the day is the Los Angeles Angels at the Atlanta Braves. The Angels, with a record of 39-55 have lost five games in a row and nine of their last 10. On the mound tonight is Reid Detmers, who is 2-3 this season with an ERA of 4.11. As a team, the Angles have been batting .229, which isn’t good enough to keep up with the Braves.
The Atlanta Braves are 58-38 after winning four of their last five games. Atlanta leads their series with the Angels 2-0 at the moment. Yesterday’s game went to the Braves who won it with ease 7-2. On the mound for the Braves today is the 8-5 Ian Anderson. With Anderson on the mound, the best bet is the Braves -210.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds – 1:40 PM ET
With a record of 51-45, the St. Louis Cardinals are second in the NL Central. Today, they face the Reds who they’ve already beaten three times in this series. The Cardinals will try to add another win to their record and close the series 4-1 today. Helping them with this is SP Miles Mikolas, who is 7-7 with a 2.54 ERA.
The biggest challenge for the Reds tonight is stopping the Cardinals batters. As a team, St. Louis is batting .252, one of the top ten batting teams in the league. Unfortunately for the Reds, they’ll be sending out Tyler Mahle, who is 3-7 with a 4.48 ERA. At the plate, the Reds are batting .239, so the smart bet is the Cardinals -155.
Texas Rangers vs. Oakland Athletics – 4:07 PM ET
The Texas Rangers have lost four of their last five games, including two to the Athletics. Yesterday’s game ended in a 3-1 loss where the Rangers couldn’t get their bats going. This isn’t much of a surprise considering they bat .239 as a team. However, the Athletics have a much worse average and scored three runs against them.
The Oakland Athletics are batting .212 as a team but have won four of their last five games. Improving their record to 35-62, they’ll look to close out this series with a sweep today. On the mound for Oakland is Paul Blackburn, who is 6-5 as a starter. The Rangers will start the 7-2 Martin Perez tonight. Perez has an ERA of 2.68 so we’ll take the Rangers -135.
Washington Nationals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – 4:10 PM ET
After a 7-2 loss to the Diamondbacks yesterday, the Nationals are looking to bounce back. They have a record of 31-65 with a 16-29 record on the road. Over their last five games, the Nationals have lost four of them, two of which to the Diamondbacks. Taking the mound tonight is Erick Fedde, who has an ERA of 4.91 and a 5-7 record.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will start a pitcher that has only thrown for 14.1 innings. Corbin Martin has yet to be attributed with a win or a loss but has a 4.40 ERA. The Nationals have an advantage at the plate, batting .246 compared to the Diamondbacks at .225. However, the Diamondbacks have taken down the Nationals pretty easily so we’ll take Arizona -120.
San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets – 7:00 PM ET
Perhaps the most entertaining game of the day will be the San Diego Padres at New York Mets. At the moment the series is 2-0 in favor of the Padres. Joe Musgrove will get the nod to start the game for the Padres today. Musgrove is 8-2 with an impressive 2.42 ERA over the span of 104 innings. The only area where the Padres don’t have an advantage is at the plate.
The New York Mets are batting .251 as a team this season. For some reason, they can’t seem to score more than a run against the Padres. RHP Carlos Carrasco will get the start tonight with a record of 10-4 and an ERA of 4.27. This is going to be a tough game for the Mets but they need to win this one. We’ll go with New York at -130 tonight.
