It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Thursday’s schedule.
Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds – 12:35 PM ET
We have an early game between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds to begin our day. The Cubs, 18-25, lost to the Reds yesterday 4-3. This loss came after two straight wins by the Cubs over the Reds. As this series comes to a close, the Cubs will send the 1-4 Justin Steele to the mound. They’ll hope that Steele can earn a win for the Cubs to win the series 3-1.
Although the Cubs are starting one of their worst pitchers, he’s not as bad as the Reds’ Hunter Greene. Greene has a record of 1-6 this season with an ERA of 5.49 over 39.1 innings pitched. With how Greene has performed, Cincinnati will have to rely on their bats to win this one. Because of their SP, we’ll take the Cubs to win tonight and close the series 3-1.
New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays – 6:40 PM ET
Jumping further ahead into the day, we’ll see the Yankees face the Rays. This is the first game of the series between these two, and New York is coming off two straight wins. With momentum high in New York, they’ll send out Nestor Cortes, who is 3-1. Cortes and the Yankees bats will look to earn them their third straight win.
This season, the Tampa Bay Rays are 26-17 and 15-9 at home. On the mound tonight is Ryan Yarbrough, who has an ERA of 4.20 in 15.0 innings pitched. The Rays batters are nearly as good as the Yankees this year. They have a team batting average of .240 and have earned 189 runs this season. We’ll take the home team to win this game.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:20 PM ET
The Phillies have lost the last two games of this series. As we head into Game 4, they’ll send out Aaron Nola, which doesn’t inspire much confidence. Nola is 1-4 as a starter this season with an ERA of 3.96 over 52.1 innings pitched. However, the Phillies batters have a much better average (.251) than the Atlanta Braves.
The Braves will look to make up for the great batting of the Phillies with solid pitching. On the mound for Atlanta is the 4-2 Kyle Wright, who has an ERA of 2.49. Wright is one of the Braves’ best pitchers and the best option to close out the series. Although the Phillies have strong batters, we think the Braves will pull this out -120.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 7:45 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers are 28-16 with a 14-10 record on the road. Milwaukee is also first in the NL Central, and tonight, they’ll face the second-place team. Taking on the Cardinals will be tough, which is why they’ll have Eric Lauer on the mound. Lauer is 4-1 as a starter with an incredible 2.16 ERA. Look for the Brewers to lean heavily on Lauer tonight.
On the opposite side, the Cardinals will also send out one of their best pitchers. The 5-3 Adam Wainwright will take the mound today and look to stop the Brewers batters. The Cardinals have some of the best bats in the league, with an average of .255. Their on-base percentage of .324 is also rather impressive. Still, we’ll take Lauer and the Brewers tonight.
Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago White Sox – 8:10 PM
The Boston Red Sox have won four of their last five games. Their most recent loss was to the Chicago White Sox yesterday with a score of 3-1. However, it’s important to remember that they blew out the White Sox just the day before. After scoring 16 runs, the Red Sox should be able to bounce back from yesterday’s loss. Especially since the 3-0, Michael Wacha is on the mound.
The Chicago White Sox are 22-21, finally crossing that .500 mark. However, the 2-4 Dallas Keuchel could send them right back to .500 after today. The Red Sox have a team batting average of .250, one of the best in the league. Keuchel doesn’t seem equipped to handle this kind of intensity. We’ll take the Red Sox to win tonight -110.
