It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Friday’s schedule.
Colorado Rockies vs. Cincinnati Reds – 6:40 PM ET
Our first matchup of the day will see the Colorado Rockies face the Cincinnati Reds. The Rockies, with a record of 56-76, are at the bottom of the NL East. Tonight, with the 7-8 Kyle Freeland on the mound, they’ll look to get a much-needed win. Freeland has an ERA of 4.88 and the Rockies have a team batting average of .260.
Considering the Rockies have one of the best batting averages in the league, the Reds need good pitching. Tonight, Luis Cessa will get the start for the Reds. Cessa has a record of 3-2 but an ERA of 5.36. Because of this, we’ll take the Rockies on the road at -105.
New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays – 7:10 PM ET
The game between the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays is sure to be entertaining. The Yankees, who have lost four of their last five, are in danger of losing the AL East. With a 79-52 record, the Yankees are being followed closely by the Rays, who are 72-57. On the mound tonight is Domingo German, who is 2-2 with an ERA of 3.19.
The Tampa Bay Rays will send out one of their best, Jeffrey Springs. Springs has a 6-4 record with a 2.76 ERA over the course of 101 innings. The Rays are coming off of three big wins, one of which was over the Boston Red Sox. At home tonight, we’ll take the Rays over the Yankees at -130.
Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets – 7:10 PM ET
The Washington Nationals are very likely to miss the postseason this year. However, that won’t stop them from handing other teams a few losses. The Nationals have a record of 45-86 but won back-to-back games over the Oakland Athletics. On the mound for them tonight is Josiah Gray, whose 7-8 record and 4.67 ERA are slightly concerning.
The Nationals will face the New York Mets tonight, who have a record of 84.48. The Mets are one of the best teams in the National League, following behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. Taking the mound tonight is David Peterson, who has a 7-3 record and a 3.21 ERA. With Peterson on the mound, the Mets are the better pick at -278.
Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:20 PM ET
The Miami Marlins have a 55-75 record this season. Unfortunately, they play one of the best teams in the league when they face the Braves tonight. On the mound for Miami is Sandy Alcantara, whose 12-6 record and 2.13 ERA should help. The Marlins have a team batting average of .229, one of the worst in the league.
The question tonight is how long can Alcantara hold off the Braves batters. As a team, the Braves have a batting average of .253, a strong group to be sure. Atlanta also has a 44-25 record at home this season and an 81-51 overall record. This one will likely be close but we’re going to go with the upset and take the Marlins at +158.
Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 8:15 PM ET
With a record of 56-75 the Chicago Cubs are third in the NL Central. Tonight, they face the first place team in their division, the St. Louis Cardinals. On the mound for the Cubs tonight is Adrian Sampson, who has a 1-4 record with a 3.97 ERA. Against the Cardinals batters, Sampson is in for a rough night.
The Cardinals have a record of 76-55 and will send out Jordan Montgomery. Montgomery has a record of 7-3 this season with an impressive 3.28 ERA. The Cardinals also have a batting group that is hitting .258 this season. This one is a clear choice as we’ll take the Cardinals at home -250.
