MLB Best Bets for September 7, 2022

It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Wednesday’s schedule.

Atlanta Braves vs. Oakland Athletics – 3:37 PM ETbraves vs athletics baseball betting

Our first game of the day features the Atlanta Braves and Oakland Athletics. The Braves, with a record of 85-51, have gone 38-26 on the road this season. Tonight, they’ll have Spencer Strider, their best pitcher, take the mound for them. Strider has a 9-4 record with a 2.67 ERA.

The Oakland Athletics find themselves in a tough spot as they face the Braves. They’re coming off of a narrow 10-9 loss to Atlanta last night, dropping their record to 50-86. On the mound for the Athletics is Ken Waldichuk, who has only pitched 4.2 innings. In that time he’s thrown six strikeouts and has an ERA of 1.93. Still, we’ll take the Braves at -285 tonight.

Chicago White Sox vs. Seattle Mariners – 4:10 PM ETwhite sox vs mariners baseball betting

The Chicago White Sox have a record of 68-68 this season, right at .500. Tonight, they’ll face the Seattle Mariners again, to who they lost 3-0 yesterday. At the moment, the series is tied at 1-1, with tonight being the final game. The White Sox will start Michael Kopech who is 4-9 this season with a 3.58 ERA.

Although Kopech has a pretty good ERA, the Mariners starting pitcher has the edge. Getting the nod tonight is Luis Castillo, who is 6-5 with a 2.71 ERA. The Mariners have a team batting average of .230, not nearly as good as the White Sox. However, with Castillo on the mound, we’ll take the Mariners at -195.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs – 7:40 PM ETreds vs cubs baseball betting

Jumping forward into the evening is when you’ll see the Cincinnati Reds face the Chicago Cubs. The Reds, with a record of 53-80, lost 9-3 to the Cubs last night. They’ll try to bounce back today by sending out Mike Minor, only it might backfire. Minor has a 3-10 record with a 5.98 ERA this season. Don’t count on the Reds to pull this game off tonight.

The Chicago Cubs are the much better pick here for a few reasons. It starts with pitching as Javier Assad will take the mound tonight. Sure Assad has only pitched 10 innings but he’s thrown six strikeouts in that time. The Cubs also have performed better at the plate, so we’ll take them -145.

Washington Nationals vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 7:45 PM ETnationals vs cardinals baseball betting

The Washington Nationals have an impressive .250 batting average this season. Unfortunately, the team still has a 48-88 record and is 26-41 on the road. Tonight they face the St. Louis Cardinals, who are one of the best teams in the National League. On the mound for the Nationals is Cory Abbott, who is 0-2 with a 4.39 ERA.

The St. Louis Cardinals have a record of 80-56 this season, first in the NL Central. On the mound for them tonight is Jordan Montgomery, who is 8-3 this season. With an ERA of 3.15, Montgomery gives the Cardinals everything they need to win. We’ll take St. Louis at home -320 over the Nationals.

Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros – 8:10 PM ETrangers vs astros baseball betting

Our final game of the night will be between the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros. The Rangers, with a record of 59-76, beat the Astros 4-3 last night. They’ll look to do so again but this time with Cole Ragans starting the game. Ragans has a record of 0-2 with a 4.42 ERA, the Rangers will have to rely on their batters here.

The Houston Astros have a record of 87-49 this season and are 44-21 at home. They’ll start Cristian Javier, who is 8-9 with a 3.07 ERA. The Astros also have a slight edge at the plate where they have a batting average of .245. Look for the Astros to get a win at home to close the series -285.
