It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look at the top five games on Tuesday’s schedule.
San Diego Padres vs. Cincinnati Reds – 6:40 PM ET
The 10-7 San Diego Padres will begin their series against the 3-13 Cincinnati Reds today. After suffering a 10-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Padres will look to bounce back today. On the mound is Joe Musgrove, who is 2-0 as a starter this year. With how much the Reds have struggled this season, the Padres should have this in the bag.
The Reds will put Reiver Sanmartin on the mound today. Sanmartin is 0-2 this season, allowing 14 hits in 12.2 innings pitched. One of the Reds’ main problems is with batting. As a team, the Reds have a batting average of .186. Take the Padres -175 to win this game tonight.
Colorado Rockies vs. Philadelphia Phillies – 6:45 PM ET
The Rockies, 10-6 this season, took an uncharacteristic 8-2 loss to the Phillies yesterday. This was quite the upset considering how much better the Rockies are on paper. German Marquez will get the start today and this could spell trouble for the Rockies. Marquez has allowed 21 hits in 17.1 innings pitched along with four home runs.
For the Phillies, they’ll look to repeat their performance from the previous game. Zach Eflin, the 0-1 starter for the Phillies, has an ERA of 5.27. As the Phillies look to take down the Rockies again, Eflin will have his hands full. The Rockies batters are among the best in Major League Baseball with a team average of .265.
Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays – 7:07 PM ET
After losing four of their last five games, the Red Sox look to break their losing streak. They’ve already lost the first game of this series 6-2. Prior to that, they lost twice to the Tampa Bay Rays, bringing them to three straight losses. Unfortunately for Boston, Nick Pivetta will get the start on the mound. Pivetta is 0-3 so far this season.
The Blue Jays will go with Kevin Gausman tonight, the 1-1 RHP. Gausman has an ERA of 2.89, which is much better than Pivetta’s 10.03. The Blue Jays also have a better batting group which should lead them to another win tonight.
Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:20 PM ET
The 7-9 Chicago Cubs face off against the 7-10 Atlanta Braves tonight. This is the first game of the series and each of these teams is coming off a loss. The Cubs, are 1-4 over their last five games, losing three games to the Pirates. The only silver lining is that they beat the Pirates 21-0 in a record-setting game.
The Atlanta Braves lost their series to the Miami Marlins just a few nights ago. They won the first game 3-0 but lost the following two due to poor pitching. The 1-2 Max Fried is on the mound for Atlanta today. Fried has an ERA of 3.50 and his opponent from Chicago is Marcus Stroman (0-2). Stroman has an ERA of 8.78 and has allowed three home runs this season.
New York Mets vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 7:45 PM ET
The Mets got a quick start to the series with a 5-2 win in Game 1. The Mets were down up until the ninth inning when they scored five runs. This surplus of runs was thanks to an error by Nolan Arenado of the St. Louis Cardinals. On the mound tonight is Chris Bassitt, who has thrown 20 strikeouts over 18 innings pitched.
On the opposite side is Jordan Hicks, who has a record of 1-1 this season. Hicks’ ERA is 1.29, which would be impressive if he had pitched more than seven innings. Yesterday’s loss brings it to two in a row for St. Louis. To get back on track they’ll need to rely on their batters. However, against the Mets pitchers, this isn’t an easy task.
