It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Sunday’s schedule.
Cincinnati Reds vs. Toronto Blue Jays – 1:37 PM ET
To begin our best MLB bets, we’ll take a look at the game between the Reds and the Blue Jays. Cincinnati, 11-28, has lost their last two games to the Blue Jays by a margin of just a few runs. Considering they’ve been able to keep the games close, the Reds could find a way to win tonight. On the mound is Graham Ashcraft who has yet to throw a single pitch this season.
With a brand new pitcher on the mound, the Reds’ chances of winning drop dramatically. It also doesn’t help their chances that the 2-1Yusei Kikuchi will start for the Blue Jays. Kikuchi has an ERA of 3.38 over 32.0 innings pitched. Look for the Blue Jays to get a commanding win at home over the Reds.
Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins – 1:40 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves will face the Miami Marlins shortly after the game we covered above. Atlanta, currently 19-21 this season, has won their last two games against Miami. Although the margin of victory has been small, these are much-needed road wins for the Braves. Ian Anderson, the 3-2 RHP for the Braves will get the start on the mound tonight.
The Miami Marlins have a much better team batting average than the Braves do. With an average of .243, you’d think the Marlins would’ve won at least one game by now. However, they’re currently on a three-game losing streak. Tonight they’ll send out Sandy Alcantara, who is also 3-2 with an ERA of 2.49. We’ll take the Marlins to win this one -120.
New York Mets vs. Colorado Rockies – 3:10 PM ET
The New York Mets are one of the best teams in Major League Baseball. At the moment, the Mets have a record of 27-15, winning three of their last five games. However, their most recent game was an 11-3 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Both of the Mets best pitchers are currently on the IL. Both Tylor Megill and Max Scherzer won’t take the mound for at least 15 days.
Tonight, Taijuan Walker will get the start for the New York Mets. Walker is 1-0 this season with an ERA of 3.52 over 23 innings pitched. For the Rockies, the 2-3 Austin Gomber will get the start. The Rockies excel when it comes to batting, with a team batting average of .265. Look for the Rockies to have another strong outing at the plate and win at home.
San Diego Padres vs. San Francisco Giants – 4:05 PM ET
The San Diego Padres, currently 26-14, face the 22-17 San Francisco Giants today. Each of these teams is a member of the NL West. San Diego currently has the No.2 spot while the Giants follow closely behind them. The 2-1 MacKenzie Gore will look to get his team another win to close the series against the Giants. The Padres have already won two so far.
To avoid getting swept in this series, the Giants need to start a strong pitcher. Alex Wood, the 3-2 LHP, will be tasked with stopping the Padres batters. Wood has an ERA of 3.93 and has thrown 35 strikeouts in 34.1 innings pitched. The Giants are also more successful at the plate this season with a .246 batting average. Still, we’ll take the Padres to sweep the Giants here.
Oakland Athletics vs. Los Angeles Angels – 4:07 PM ET
Two teams from the AL West will continue their series tonight. The Oakland Athletics have won only two of their last five games, bringing their record to 17-25. They notched a 4-2 win over the Angels to start this series, but then lost 5-3 the following day. The 2-1 Cole Irvin will take the mound tonight, hoping to secure a win for the Athletics.
On the opposite side is Patrick Sandoval, who is also 2-1 this season. Both starting pitchers today are left-handed pitchers. The Angels have a significant edge over the Athletics in terms of batting. With a team batting average of .245 and an on-base percentage of .320, we don’t see the Angels losing. Take Los Angeles to win this one at home -200.
